SANTIAGO, Chile – The No. 4 U.S. U-21 Women’s National Team fell to host No. 18 Chile, 2-1, in their second match of the 2026 Junior Pan American Cups.

Just a minute in, Chile struck, taking an early lead. As the opening frame came to a close, the hosts earned a penalty corner, but were unable to convert.

USA had a set piece chance of their own early in the second quarter, but the twice-attempted shot from Reese D’Ariano was blocked. Another set piece opportunity for the Junior Eagles in the final minutes of the first half was fruitless. Chile would lead 1-0 at the halftime break.

A penalty corner conversion in the 39th minute put Chile up 2-0 over USA. The red, white and blue could not seem to find the connections they needed up the field and in the circle.

With two minutes remaining, the Junior Eagles found a spark. On a penalty corner chance, D’Ariano’s initial shot was saved, but she quickly put in the rebound with a reverse hit.

USA trailed 2-1, and despite their final push, could not find another goal to even the score.

Next Up: The Junior Eagles will face host No. 34 Mexico on Friday, April 10 at 11:00 a.m. ET. Fans can stream it live for free on PanAm Sports Channel.
