SANTIAGO, Chile – The No. 4 U.S. U-21 Women’s National Team was overpowered by No. 2 Argentina at the 2026 Junior Pan American Cups.

"The response to today will be our biggest takeaway—an opportunity to show who we are and what standard we’re committed to," said Lynn Farquhar, U-21 USWNT Head Coach. "There were moments where our units showed what we’re capable of, now that needs to extend. We have to own that, lean into it, and come together as a group to meet it tomorrow."

Argentina scored two goals in the first ten minutes, catching USA on their back foot, then tallying one more before the quarter break to take a 3-0 lead. USA slowed down Argentina’s attack in the second, including fending off two penalty corners, before allowing a fourth goal in the final minute before halftime.

Early in the third, Argentina converted a penalty corner to a take a 5-0 lead. Las Leoncitas next set piece chance came in minute 44, which was denied by goalkeeper Juliana Boon.

The final quarter of the match was scoreless for both sides, as Argentina shut out USA, 5-0.
