U-21 USMNT Secure Spot in JPAC Semifinals With Win Over Mexico
SANTIAGO, Chile – With a 4-1 win over No. 36 Mexico, the No. 29 U.S. U-21 Men’s National Team secured a spot in the 2026 Junior Pan American Cups semifinals on Friday, April 17. Sekayi Charasika and Mehtab Grewal tallied two goals apiece in the victory.
Charasika continued to display his offensive prowess, kicking off the match with a perfectly placed penalty corner to put USA up 1-0.
USA finished out the first quarter with a one goal lead, and patiently waited for their next opportunity in the second, which came as another penalty corner in minute 27. Captain Grewal's flick put USA up 2-0.
Mexico earned their first penalty corner in the final minute of the third frame, but USA’s defensive unit was ready. Another set piece opportunity was won by Mexico early in the final quarter, and this time they converted to cut USA’s lead to 2-1.
The Junior Wolves were quick to regain their advantage with a goal from Charasika.
There would be one final set piece chance for USA in the final minutes, and that chance led to a penalty stroke. Grewal nailed the opportunity, sealing USA's 4-1 victory.
