Action Continues at 2026 WMH Masters World Cup
Play continued in Brasschaat, Belgium and Breda, Netherlands for six USA Masters teams at the 2026 World Masters Hockey (WMH) Masters World Cup. On Monday, the USA Men’s O-55 team picked up their first win of the tournament, a 2-1 victory against Singapore.
Sunday, August 9
O-65M: France 2 – 1 USA
The USA Men’s O-65 team put together a very strong and competitive performance against France, showing significant improvement and playing some of their strongest hockey compared with previous Masters World Cup appearances.
France opened the scoring in the 13th minute, converting a penalty corner to take a 1–0 lead. USA stayed composed, continued to compete, and worked its way back into the match. In the 30th minute, Pervaiz Iqbal scored a field goal for USA, bringing the match level at 1–1. The teams went into halftime tied 1–1, with USA very much in the game.
France regained the lead in the 35th minute through a field goal, making it 2–1. From there, USA continued to battle, created a couple of good opportunities, and pushed hard to find another equalizer. Unfortunately, USA was unable to convert those chances. The match remained competitive until the final whistle, with France winning 2–1.
Despite the result, there were many positives for USA. The team played with greater confidence, discipline, organization, and intensity. USA competed with France throughout the match and showed that the team can play strong hockey against quality opposition.
O-65W: USA 0 – 3 Argentina
The Women’s O-65s played a physical Argentina team, and despite improved passing and movement, came up short. The final score was 3-0, with the third goal being scored on a penalty corner just as time expired. Argentina honored USA’s Linda Kreiser as the player of the game, and yesterday’s maiden of the match Linda Polonski passed the title on to Wendy Morris.
O-55W: USA 0 – 1 Germany
The Women’s O-55 team was edged by an aggressive Germany side, despite dominating the entire second half. USA fought hard behind some solid goalkeeping and narrowly missed on various offensive opportunities, falling 1-0. The O-55 squad will face South Africa on Tuesday and will look to finish pool play with a victory.
O-60M: USA 2 – 4 England
The Men’s O-60s played a formidable opponent in England on Sunday evening under perfect weather conditions. The first half the USA men came out strong, scoring two impressive field goals, the first by Manzar Iqbal and second by Erik Enters. However, England was able to convert on a penalty corner, putting them on the scoreboard. The USA defense, led by goalkeeper Aji Prashant, played an impressive first half, as USA held a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, USA did not fare so well as England went on to score three field goals. The USA fought valiantly but was unable to score again. USA will play South Africa in their last pool game on Tuesday, August 11 at 2:30 p.m. local.
Monday, August 10
O-65W: England 7 – 0 USA
In their third match of the WMH World Cup, USA’s Women’s O-65 team was shut out by England, 7-0.
O-55M: Singapore 1 – 2 USA
The USA Men’s O-55 team picked up their first win of the tournament with a good performance against Singapore. In the first half USA applied pressure and scored on a penalty stroke by Mike Sandhu. Singapore was able to equalize right before the half time whistle. In the second half USA dominated and had several scoring opportunities. Nick Hill scored the winning goal from a penalty stroke, and the red, white and blue held control for the rest of the game for a 2-1 victory.
O-65M: England 13 – 0 USA
It was a very difficult match for USA Men’s O-65s against a strong and experienced England team. England controlled much of the game with excellent passing, speed, and finishing, putting our defense under constant pressure. USA continued to compete and work hard throughout the match but struggled to create scoring opportunities. Ultimately, USA was unable to get on the scoreboard, with England finishing with a 13–0 victory.
O-60W: USA 0 – 1 Netherlands
A well-fought and physical game left for an exciting match between USA’s Women’s O-60s and the Netherlands today. Netherlands opened up the scoring with an early first quarter goal, but USA did excellent adjusting and playing to the tempo of the match. USA had several offensive opportunities but was unable find the back of the net.
With 2:30 left to play, USA opted for a goalkeeper substitution to add additional offensive pressure. Despite the move, USA was unable to find the goal needed to equalize. Overall, it was a great team effort, and USA will look ahead to Wednesday’s game against South Africa.
