2026 WMH Masters World Cup Comes to a Close
Five out of the six USA Masters teams at the second leg of the 2026 World Masters Hockey (WMH) Masters World Cup finished out their campaign with a victory.
On the final two days of the tournament, USA's Men's O-55s defeated Singapore, 1-0, for a 15th place finish, while the Men's O-60s took down Germany, 2-1, for 5th. The Women's O-55s shutout Germany, the Women's O-60s defeated Wales, and the Women's O-65s took down Belgium twice — all three for 9th place.

O-55M: Singapore 0 - 1 USA (15th/16th)
The USA O-55 Men finished their campaign out with a gritty 1-0 victory over Singapore, giving them 15th place. The lone goal of the match came from Mike Sandhu in the third quarter off of a penalty corner.
O-65M: Japan 7 - 1 USA
On Saturday, the USA Men’s O-65 team faced Japan in their penultimate match at the 2026 WMH World Cup in Breda. Japan proved to be the stronger side, playing with good speed and movement. USA competed hard throughout the match and created several attacking opportunities. The effort was rewarded with a goal, but Japan’s consistent pressure and clinical finishing resulted in a 7–1 final score.
Despite the result, the USA players never stopped working and continued fighting until the final whistle. Playing against strong international teams at this level has been a valuable experience for the USA team, and has highlighted areas to improve, particularly fitness, defensive organization, and finishing on attacking opportunities.
O-55W: USA 3 - 0 Germany (9th/10th)
It was a revenge win for the Women’s O-55 team, who scored three goals against Germany and shut them out, to finish the tournament in 9th place. Pam Stuper scored the first (USA’s first penalty corner goal of the tournament), Clara Ambrose tallied the second, and Margaret Kelly buried the third past the Germany goalkeeper. The three goals were the result of persistent, sustained attack by all of USA’s forwards. The USA midfielders and forwards executed the press perfectly, backed by a solid defensive line and key saves by Jen Anderson, securing the 3-0 win.
The Women’s O-55 team went 3-0 over the last three days, outscoring opponents 7-1. It is a true testament to how well they trained, took care of their bodies as the days got long, were cared for by the medical staff, and supported by the fans.
O-60W: Argentina 1 – 1 (1-2 SO) USA
In a well-contested match between USA’s Women’s O-60 team and Argentina, USA came out on top in shootouts. USA dominated the first and second quarters, making some great connections. Toward the end of the first half, Argentina was able to slip one past the USA defense on a penalty corner, making it 1-0. Several offensive opportunities ensued for USA, but the red, white and blue were unable to capitalize.
In the fourth frame an opportunity arose on a penalty corner when a penalty stroke was called in favor of USA. In a huge spot, Moira Leavitt stepped up big for USA, placing the ball right under the goalkeeper’s stick and into the net to tie it at 1-1. The game closed in a draw and proceeded into 1v1 shootouts. Out of the initial five chances, Kathy Frick was able to put one in the net and goalkeeper Lucy Godfrey was able to only concede one goal, keeping it tied and sending it to sudden victory. The moment of bliss for USA came when Frick slid it past the goalkeeper and Godfrey kept the Argentina attacker out, as USA claimed a well-fought victory and spot in the 9th/10th placement match.
O-65W: USA 3 – 0 Belgium (9th/10th)
The USA O-65 Women took on Belgium for a second time in less than 24 hours on Saturday afternoon on Pitch 4 at Dragons KHC. Less than a minute into the game Josie Worthington intercepted Belgium’s initial possession and scored to put USA ahead. Linda Polonsky put a hard-fought and beautiful goal away shortly after to double the advantage. The final goal of the game was scored off a set piece shot by Cindi Wetmore that was tipped into the right corner of the cage by Wendy Morris. The two USA goalkeepers, Pam Sherry and Elaine Knobloch, kept Belgium scoreless with several key saves. It was a great end the tournament for USA, taking a 3-0 win and 9th place.

O-60M: USA 2 - 1 Germany (5th/6th)
USA's O-60 Men will go home with the admirable finish of fifth place after defeating Germany, 2-1, in a tight match. After going down 1-0 to Germany in the first half, USA brought it back in the second. Bill Larkins and Erik Enters both tallied in the third frame, bringing USA to their 2-1 win.
O-65M: USA 1 - 7 Canada
The USA Men’s O-65 team finished its World Cup campaign with a 7–1 loss against Canada. Despite the score, USA competed hard and showed determination throughout the match. Canada took advantage of its opportunities, but USA kept fighting and was able to get on the scoreboard. It was a tough finish, but the players represented the United States with pride, commitment, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
O-60W: Wales 0 – 1 USA (9th/10th)
The Women's O-60 had a wonderful match to close out their World Cup tour. The USA ladies started the spirited game by connecting throughout the pitch and making great opportunities. The lone goal came from a penalty stroke scored by Moira Leavitt. USA played an excellent tour, with growth seen by all throughout the ten days.
