Get Ready for the 2026 FIH Para Hockey World Cup

In three days, 16 teams will make history at the first-ever FIH Para Hockey World Cup. In their international debut, USA's Hockey ii (intellectual impairment) team will compete on the biggest stage.

In October 2025, FIH announced the news of this unprecedented addition, a victory for diversity and inclusion in the field hockey community. The 2026 FIH Para Hockey World Cup is a 6-a-side, co-ed tournament, which will be played in Amstelveen, Netherlands, and Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium, from August 20 to 24, 2026.

  • What is Para Hockey?

    Para Hockey is the umbrella term for all disciplines of Hockey played by individuals with a disability. Para Hockey for athletes with intellectual disabilities (ID) is a hockey format that has been established 14 years ago, which the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has been supporting for many years.


  • Game Format

    A match consists of two periods of 15 minutes.

    Teams are co-ed, 6-a-side. Each team has a goalkeeper on the field throughout the match.

  • Pools

    Pool A: Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Pakistan, USA, Zambia

    Pool B: Argentina, Bulgaria, Chile, England, India, Malaysia, Spain, Netherlands

  • Venues

    Pool matches will be played at Louvain-la-Neuve HC in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium and Myra HC in Amstelveen, Netherlands.

    The final day of the competition (August 24) will be played in the same arenas as those hosting the FIH Hockey World Cup, namely the Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands and the Belfius Hockey Arena in Wavre, Belgium.

  • Roster

    The eight athletes selected to represent USA were announced on August 3, 2026. The roster features athletes from across the country, representing six different states: California, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Virginia.

    Pool Stage: August 20 - 23

    16 teams, 2 pools of 8, 56 total matches


    Medal & Classifications Matches: August 24

    Rankings in pools will determine medal matches

    Gold: 1A vs 1B | Bronze: 2A vs 2B

    Remaining teams will play classification matches in the countries where they started
