How and when did field hockey first become your game?

I grew up around field hockey with a stick in my hand. My mom played for South Africa before I was born and later helped run events at our local club, Hartleyvale, where I spent countless hours around the game. I started playing competitively at age 9 in primary school under coach Murray Anderson, and I've loved the sport ever since.

What's the field hockey moment you'll never forget?

Representing the United States at the 2024 Masters World Cup. I've been fortunate to have some incredible moments in hockey, including scoring an overtime championship winner, but nothing compares to pulling on the USA jersey and representing my country on the world stage.

What does it mean to you to still be lacing up — and to wear the USA jersey — at the Masters level?

It's incredibly meaningful. Representing the United States has been a lifelong dream, and to have the opportunity to wear the USA jersey in my forties is something I'll never take for granted. I'm proud, grateful, and excited every time I step onto the field.

If you had a moment to thank the people that keep you on the field, who would you name?

Without question, my wife, Nicole, and our two kids. Balancing training, travel, work, and family isn't easy, and I couldn't do any of it without their love, encouragement, and support. I'm incredibly grateful for everything they do to help make this possible.

What would you tell someone who's on the fence about giving Masters a try?

Go for it! You have nothing to lose and so much to gain. Even if you don't make a team, you'll meet amazing people, learn from great coaches, and have opportunities to keep improving your game. You might even surprise yourself. Give it a shot!

Did you play for a club team growing up?

A few South African clubs, schools & university

How and when did field hockey first become your game?

Hockey was passed down on my father's side and I grew up knowing hockey but started playing seriously at the age of 12.

What's the field hockey moment you'll never forget?

Making the South African Schools National Team at the age of 17 and the South African University Team at 20.

What does it mean to you to still be lacing up — and to wear the USA jersey — at the Masters level?

It's fulfillment of my soul and talents, and execution of my dream and passion. How life has come full circle.

If you had a moment to thank the people that keep you on the field, who would you name?

My wife and kids... It's a sacrifice to be here and to be involved.

What would you tell someone who's on the fence about giving Masters a try?

I've already convinced many to join. It's a great opportunity and experience!
