  • About Alan Scally

    Hometown: Buenos Aires, Argentina

    Position: Midfield

    Club Team: Bulldogs

    Occupation:  Associate Director at Spotify

  • How and when did field hockey first become your game?

Field hockey is a part of my family history. My grandfather was an Olympian (1948), as was my father (1968 & 1972); my aunt was on the Argentina National Team, and my mother was in the Buenos Aires state team. I have been playing since I was five years old and have loved every second of it!

  • What's the field hockey moment you'll never forget?

While I have several memorable moments, my most memorable one was when one of my players made it to the USWNT and called me to let me know that she was mentioning the Bulldogs hockey club because of the influence we had on her and her family.

  • What does it mean to you to still be lacing up — and to wear the USA jersey — at the Masters level?

It means everything. I am extremely proud to play for the U.S. and compete. I want to do all I can for the team to make us competitive and hopefully medal again (PanAMs 2023 silver!)

  • What would you tell someone who's on the fence about giving Masters a try?

You are missing out on what belonging to this community means. Masters has given me friends across all ages who share my goals and ambitions, some of whom I will still consider as friends even when we stop playing. It's also an amazing way to reawaken the passion for a sport that is amazing.

  • If you had a moment to thank the people and places that keep you on the field, who would you name?

My wife first. Her support is everything. Without it, I wouldn't be able to be where I am at and invest the time I need to play at this level. I would also like to thank all the coaches I had and still have today, who helped me get better at understanding this game.

  • About Shawn Hindy

    Hometown: Westlake Village, CA

    Lives in: Moorpark, CA

    Age Division: Men's O-50

    Position: Defense

    Club Team: Bulldogs

Occupation: Financial Advisor at Northwestern Mutual

  • How and when did field hockey first become your game?

I saw field hockey at the LA 1984 Olympic Games and wondered what this sport was that the fans were going crazy for. Then got connected to the local league in Moorpark, Calif. (Field Hockey Federation) and never looked back.

  • What's the field hockey moment you'll never forget?

Scoring four goals against Argentina at the 1996 Olympic Trials and beating Argentina for the first time in 25 years.

  • What does it mean to you to still be lacing up — and to wear the USA jersey — at the Masters level?

I was lucky enough to represent the USA in PanAms, World Cups, etc. It never gets old and I appreciate the Masters community for being able to do again in an international competition, now with my wife and kids and family watching me.

  • What would you tell someone who's on the fence about giving Masters a try?

100% sign up and try it and you will see the passion and fun these tournaments and players bring!

  •  Favorite pump-up song?

    Sandstorm, old school.

    Favorite place you've traveled?

New Zealand, would go back there in a second.

What can't you live without on gameday?

    Warming up with my boys.

What would you tell your younger playing self?

Maintain the relationships you’ve made and continue to make.
