TreadBands Signs Two-Year Agreement as Official Headband Sponsor of USA Field Hockey

McSHERRYSTOWN, Pa. - TreadBands, maker of the only patented non-slip headband currently on the market, has signed a two-year agreement to become the official headband sponsor of USA Field Hockey.

The partnership builds upon a longstanding relationship that began when TreadBands made its official marketplace debut at the 2015 National Hockey Festival in Indio, Calif. Since then, TreadBands has become a leading headband brand within the sport, worn by thousands of field hockey players worldwide - including Olympians who competed at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

“The timing was finally right for TreadBands to become a full sponsor of USA Field Hockey,” said Laura Maring, founder and owner of TreadBands. “Field hockey has been part of our company’s story from the very beginning, so this partnership feels like we are coming full circle. We are incredibly proud to support USA Field Hockey and the athletes who represent the sport at every level.”

Maring, a former field hockey coach, developed TreadBands after repeatedly watching players adjust their headbands during practices and games. At the time, other companies were attempting to create non-slip headbands using silicone or velvet.

“Silicone could damage the hair, velvet absorbed moisture, and both eventually slipped,” explained Maring. “We approached the problem from an entirely different direction. We asked ourselves, ‘What doesn’t slip on a wet surface?’ The answer was tires. From there, we reverse-engineered the headband to incorporate a rubber-neoprene grip strip along the inside.”

That innovative approach led to the creation of TreadBands’ patented TreadGripStrip™ technology, designed to provide a secure, comfortable fit without constant adjustment.

Founded in 2015, TreadBands is a global headband company whose products are fully manufactured in McSherrystown, Pa. The company’s headbands are sold through TreadBands.com and Amazon with global sales.

To celebrate the new partnership, TreadBands will give away 500 headbands at the upcoming 2026 National Hockey Festival in Naples, Fla., this November. Additional details about the giveaway will be announced closer to the event.
