2025 Junior & Senior Nexus Championship Preview

In just two days, the 2025 Junior and Senior Nexus Championship (NXC), presented by Osaka Hockey, will begin in Virginia Beach, Va.

The action gets underway on Thursday, July 10, with the first of four Junior NXC age divisions, U-14 Girls, followed by U-16, U-18, and U-21 Girls. The Senior NXC will take place in tandem with the U-21 Girls division.

Here is everything you need to know heading into the 2025 Junior & Senior NXC, presented by Osaka Hockey.

  • Venue

    The Junior & Senior NXC will take place at the Virginia Beach Regional Training Center (RTC) in Virginia Beach, Va.

  • Teams

    The Junior NXC is made up of four age divisions. The U-14 Girls, U-16 Girls, and U-18 Girls consisting of 16 teams each, while the U-21 NXC is made up of six. Click here to view Junior NXC teams.

    The Senior NXC consists of eight teams of collegiate and post-collegiate athletes. Click here to view Senior NXC teams.

  • Selection

    Athletes are selected for the Junior NXC beginning with Nexus Training Weekends, which take place across the country in the spring. From these Training Weekends, top athletes are invited to attend additional training weekends in the form of Regional Selection Camps. Athletes from these camps are selected to attend the prestigious Junior NXC.

    Being selected to the NXC is the next step in the Olympic Development Pathway and tryout process for the Junior, Development, and Senior U.S. Women's National Teams.

  • Schedule

    The Junior NXC consists of four age divisions, and follows the following schedule:

    • U-14 Girls: July 10-12, 2025
    • U-16 Girls: July 13-15, 2025
    • U-18 Girls: July 16-18, 2025
    • U-21 Girls: July 18-20, 2025

    The Senior NXC takes place on the final three days:

    • Senior: July 18-20, 2025

  • Osaka Hockey

  • NLV

    Next Level Video (NLV) offers game footage, highlight reels, and livestream available for purchase. NLV will be offering discounted rates for U-14 through July 9, for U-16 through July 12, and for U-18 through July 15.

  • Raffle Tickets

    Each year during the Junior & Senior NXC, USA Field Hockey hosts a fundraising raffle that benefits the future of the field hockey community. All funds raised in the raffle help make field hockey more accessible and inclusive to all aspiring athletes in the player pathway who would otherwise be unable to participate without financial assistance.

    Each NXC participant is required to sell a minimum of fifteen (15) raffle tickets at $6.00 per ticket. All tickets are entered into the main raffle drawing for cash prizes as shown on the raffle tickets. The cash prize drawing will take place after the Nexus Championship!

  • Athlete Recovery Zone & Cold Baths

    Virginia Beach in the summer can get HOT! Please make sure athletes are hydrating and taking advantage of the Athlete Recovery Zone. Athletes will be provided a quiet recovery zone space where they can get out of the heat, stretch, and relax after competition. Athletes will also be provided specific times to take a dip in the cold bath.
