NEWARK, Del. – The 2025 United States Field Hockey League (USFHL) Adult National Club Championship (NCC) wrapped up at the University of Delaware on Sunday with Atlanta FHC and DC Dragons claiming top honors in the women’s and men’s divisions, respectively. This weekend’s tournament brought national significance and high-level competition to the adult game.

Women’s Division: Atlanta FHC Seizes the Title

Atlanta FHC claimed the 2025 USFHL Adult NCC Women’s title with a dominant and disciplined showing, defeating Washington FHA, 1-0, in the final. Their depth and experience carried them through tight pool play and into the final, where they sealed gold.

“Heading into our fifth game, we knew it would come down to grit,” reflected Atlanta FHC’s Marie Thompson. “My teammates kept pressing into the circle, and when I saw the ball loose in front of the keeper, I slipped in from the backside to finish it. Thanks to our defense, that was all we needed to secure the title.”

“Everything came together this weekend,” added Elizabeth Hitti, Atlanta FHC’s team captain. “Since February, we’ve trained weekly, scrimmaged top clubs, and competed at the Club Classic. That foundation carried us through a tough final. We lost to Washington two years ago, so we knew what it would take. It was truly a team win.”

Among the notable highlights from the women’s side, Charlotte Ambush made history by becoming the first club to qualify a team in every division of the USA Field Hockey National Club Championship series—youth through adult—marking a milestone for club depth and development. Additionally, Delaware FHC drew attention with the debut of recently retired U.S. Women’s National Team athlete Linnea Gonzales, adding elite-level flair and leadership to their roster. Delaware FHC, alongside Greenwich, finished out the tournament with a bronze medal.

Men’s Division: DC Dragons Fly to Victory

The DC Dragons were crowned the 2025 USFHL Adult NCC Men’s champions after a thrilling 5-3 win over Rye Westchester FHC in a high-intensity final. The DC Dragons’ sharp technical play and strong team chemistry carried them through three demanding days, overcoming an early setback loss to finish on top.

“We lost to them (Rye) in our first game, and that was our wake-up call,” said Ethan Skeete, who scored DC’s opening goal in the final. “That 2-1 loss flipped our mindset. We hadn’t lost a first game before at NCCs, and it lit a fire under us. Rye’s midfield was strong, so we focused on shutting them down.”

“They scored first, but mine reminded us we were still in it,” Skeete added. “I got a great pass from the other Ethan (Larson), I pulled to the right, and lobbed it over the keeper because I knew I couldn’t go through him.”

After dropping their opener to Rye, the DC Dragons powered through Pool 2 with consistency and focus. Rye entered the final undefeated, but DC flipped the script when it mattered most, and claimed the championship win in a thrilling rematch.
