2025 National Club Championship Continues, WC Eagles Clinch U-16 Gold
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Action at the 2025 National Club Championship, presented by Team IP, continued over the weekend with the U-16 Girls division at the Regional Training Center (RTC) in Virginia Beach, Va. The top 24 teams from around the country battled for three days, with WC Eagles claiming another gold medal finish.
After pool play on the first day, teams met for crossovers at both the RTC and Princess Anne Athletic Complex (PAAC). The action heated up on the third and final day, starting with semifinals consisting of WC Eagles against Texas Pride and Windy City against Centercourt.
WC Eagles took a comfortable 6-0 win over Windy City to advance to the final, while Texas Pride and Centercourt went into shootouts. Texas Pride had tied up the match in the final minutes, after going down 1-0 when Centercourt converted on an early penalty stroke. Texas Pride was victorious in shootouts, as they went on to face WC Eagles in the championship.
It was a battle to see who would go home with bronze. After a full game, Windy City and Centercourt remained tied at 1-1, forcing the match into shootouts. Centercourt clinched the third and final medalist spot with an exciting shootout victory.
The championship match saw WC Eagles take a commanding 6-0 win over Texas Pride.
After three days and only one brief weather delay, the U-16 Girls National Club Championship came to an end. USA Field Hockey would like to congratulate all of this year's teams, athletes, and coaches who participated! And thank you to the umpires, umpire managers, and volunteers who continue to make the NCC a success.
