Leap Hockey was an integral partner in optimizing the FUNdamental Field Hockey Guide. They provided a series of short videos for each of the core skills and concepts, which are the building blocks of the game. The instructional videos break down each exercise and reinforce the concept and practice the skill in a fun way.

“It’s been a pleasure for Leap Hockey to collaborate with our partners at USA Field Hockey on the new  FUNdamental Field Hockey  Guide,” commented Adam Falla, Leap Hockey Co-Founder. “Field hockey is a wonderfully technical and dynamic sport - there’s always something new to learn or refine, which is why so many players fall in love with it for life. At the same time, those technical demands can make getting started feel intimidating. That’s why creating a clear, engaging, and confidence-building entry-level syllabus was so important to all of us. We hope coaches and teachers enjoy the videos and booklet, and feel empowered to introduce more kids to this incredible sport.”

“USA Field Hockey’s  FUNdamental Field Hockey Guide has everything a leader needs to introduce the sport to beginners, no experience necessary,” added Liz Tchou, USA Field Hockey’s Senior Manager of Coach Education and 1996 Olympian.” We hope this resource will help create a fun, first experience that inspires a lifelong love for the game and grows field hockey across the nation. I first picked up a stick in elementary school and fell in love with the sport on day one and we hope this guide helps others do the same. “

“USA Field Hockey strives to grow field hockey as a sport for all, sport for life,” said Sally Goggin, USA Field Hockey National Development Director. “This improved FUNdamental Field Hockey Guide is based on USA Field Hockey’s American Development Model, and delivers a comprehensive, yet easy-to-follow, program enabling people who know nothing about field hockey to teach the sport with confidence in a fun and safe way to others. The innovative videos incorporated into the guide, filmed by Leap Hockey, offers a helpful addition to illustrate the principles taught in the guide. FUNdamental Field Hockey, along with USA Field Hockey’s online equipment store, where PE teachers and others can purchase bulk entry-level equipment affordably, provides a comprehensive package for bringing the sport of field hockey into any environment, from schools, to clubs, to recreational, fun leagues. We invite anyone and everyone to give it a try.”
