Make the Save Presenter: Amy Altig

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The inaugural Make the Save Multi-Sport Goalkeeping Coaches Forum, hosted by USA Field Hockey, will be held live on Zoom on Thursday, May 20 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. ET. Hosts Phil Edwards, USA Field Hockey's Senior Manager of Coaching and Performance, and Craig Parnham, USA Field Hockey's Director of Coach Education and Learning, will be joined by coaches and specialists from a range of different sports who will share their perspectives on supporting the development of goalkeepers of all levels.
Today, USA Field Hockey is excited to introduce the fifth Make the Save presenter who will be sharing insights from between the pipes, Amy Altig.
Amy is in her second season as the head coach of the University of Delaware women's lacrosse program. Prior to that, she held assistant coaching stints at Penn State University (2010-19), Princeton University (2007-10) and the University of Richmond (2005-07). As a goalkeeper at James Madison University from 2001 to 2005, she led the Dukes to two Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) titles, was a two-time All-CAA pick and was selected to the North/South STX Senior All-Star Game. A two-time team captain, she also saw a spot on the 2004 CAA All-Tournament Team and still ranks in the Top 12 of three career statistical categories at JMU.
Amy worked mainly with the Nittany Lion goalkeepers and defensive unit. During her nine year tenure, she coached 19 All-Americans, 36 All-Region performers, 40 All-Conference selections in addition to more than 25 student-athletes who received academic honors. Additionally, PSU boasted three Conference Goalkeepers of the Year under her guidance. After helping Penn State to a third NCAA quarterfinal appearance in four years in 2015, Amy was named IWLCA Assistant Coach of the Year and was inducted to the U.S. Lacrosse Virginia Chapter Hall of Fame. She became a playing member of the U.S. Women's Lacrosse Team in 2003 and was part of the 2009 U.S. Women's World Cup Training Team and 2008 U.S. Women's Prague Touring Team. She also served as a field coach for U.S. Women's Tryouts from 2015-17. Since 2017, Amy has been the defensive coordinator/goalkeepers coach for the U.S. Women's Lacrosse Team.
Amy will be presenting on Speed Wins Between the Pipes. Her presentation will discuss the training techniques and strategies to develop speed and success in your goalkeepers.
