U-22 USMNT & USWNT WIN BRONZE AT 2021 JUNIOR PAN AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS
This past weekend, the U.S. U-22 Men's and Women's National Teams won bronze at the 2021 Junior Pan American Championships. The women played first and with a medal and berth to the 2021 FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup on the line, the U-22 USWNT delivered in nail-biting fashion after defeating Chile in a shootout to claim bronze at the 2021 Junior Pan American Championship. Tied 1-1 after regulation, it went down to the final round of the shootout for USA to prevail 3-2 and earn the JPAC bronze and trip to South Africa in December.
Next, the U-22 USMNT brought home bronze for the second time in Junior Pan American Championship history after beating Canada in a shootout. Deadlocked at 1-1 following regulation, the shootout went down to the final person where USA capitalized on a foul and converted the penalty stroke to win the 2021 JPAC bronze.
The U.S. Men’s National Team Coaching Staff is pleased to announce two Open Trial weekends, which will be held in conjunction with the Junior and Senior USMNT training camps. The Open Trials are for athletes interested in consideration for the USMNT or Development Team, as the USMNT Coaching Staff will be attendance for both weekends.

It is an honor to announce that the International Hockey Federation (FIH) appointed Steve Horgan, USA Field Hockey’s Director of Umpiring, as the chair of the FIH Rules Committee effective immediately. This 2-year appointment will run through March 2023, where Horgan will oversee a committee of six representatives from different continental federations.
Christopher Waters passed away peacefully on August 19, 2021, at age 88. A lover of field hockey, Chris began playing as a young boy in London, England. Upon moving to the United States in 1964, he joined Team USA and won a Bronze medal at the first Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada in 1967. After that win, Chris devoted his time and energy trying to popularize men’s field hockey (the “original” hockey as he liked to say) in the United States and spent much of his free time on various committees in the FHAA, PAHF and FIH. He ran the men’s hockey competition at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games and was instrumental in creating and implementing the Pan American Cup competition.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lynn, his three daughters Amanda, Melissa and Carey, and six grandchildren.
Field hockey at the 2021 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Junior Olympic Games wrapped up on August 5 at the Houston Sports Park in Texas. This year, the AAU Junior Olympic Games, known as the largest multi-sport event for youth in the United States, featured a U-16 Girls division which consisted of six teams who competed in a round robin style competition while providing athletes the opportunity to experience an Olympic-like, multi-sport competition while enjoying the camaraderie and inspiration from top athletes in other featured sports.
For three intense action-packed days, the top eight men’s and twelve women’s adult club teams in the United States competed at the Virginia Beach Regional Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va. at the fourth annual United States Field Hockey League (USFHL) Adult National Club Championship, presented by YOLO Sportswear.
Wingate University Vice-President and Director of Athletics Steve Poston announced the addition of field hockey as the university's 24th NCAA intercollegiate sport. The Wingate field hockey team will have its inaugural season in the fall of 2022.
The USA Field Hockey’s Club Affiliation Open Enrollment Period will close on Friday, October 1. Between now and then, members can change the club affiliation by logging into their member account and selecting ‘Change My Club Affiliation’ from the left side navigation bar.
2022 MASTERS INDOOR WORLD CUP ROSTERS NAMED FOLLOWING TRYOUTS
In February 2022, USA Field Hockey will be hosting the nation’s first international masters event in the World Masters Hockey (WMH) Masters Indoor World Cup (MIWC) at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va. To prepare for the event, the U.S. Men’s and Women’s Masters Committees held tryouts for the participating teams and are pleased to announce the rosters and training squads to represent Team USA.
On Wednesdays throughout 2021, USA Field Hockey highlights an active club from one of the nine regions around the United States to shine a spotlight on what makes Member Clubs unique.
USA Field Hockey is excited to announce that the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place at the USA Field Hockey 100-Year Anniversary Celebration in 2022. Since its establishment in 1988, the USA Field Hockey Hall of Fame has recognized individuals in two categories: Athletes and Honorary Members.
Nominations for the 2022 Hall of Fame will be accepted through Thursday, September 2, 2021.
