With post-season conference tournaments taking place, USA Field Hockey is highlighting each conference in Division I, II and III.

Northeast-10 Conference

The Northeast-10 (NE10) tournament began on Monday, November 1 with four Quarterfinal games between all eight participating teams.

 

No. 1 Assumption held on to defeat No. 8 Saint Thomas Aquinas to advance to the NE10 Semifinals. The Greyhounds got on the board first on their first penalty corner of the game just over 6 minutes into play. The Spartans tied the game with 5 minutes to go in the opening frame. Assumption took the lead with just over 5 minutes to go in the third period after outshooting STAC 12-3.

 

No. 7 New Haven stunned No. 2 Bentley in a shootout. After 80 scoreless minutes, the Chargers outscored the Falcons 3-2 in the shootout to earn the 1-0 victory. Goalkeeper Keira Integlia racked up 12 saves during the on-field time before stopping the first two shootout attempts. After allowing a goal on the third, Integlia came through with a key save on the fourth to secure the win.

 

No. 6 Adelphi scored the game decider just 44 seconds into the match to beat No. 3 Stonehill, 1-0.  Adelphi outshot Stonehill 13 to 4, challenging Stonehill goalkeeper Abigail Campbell with 10 shots on goal.

 

No. 5 Pace knocked off No. 4 Saint Anselm, 1-0. With just five minutes remaining in the match, Pace’s Krista Dietz scored off a rebound near the right post for the game winner. The Blue and Gold controlled the majority of the game, having earned a 13 to 4 advantage in penalty corners. They also tallied a 5 to1 edge in shots-on-goal.

 

The Semifinals will take place on Thursday, November 4 with No. 6 Adelphi hosting No. 7 New Haven at 1:00 p.m. ET and No. 1 Assumption welcoming No. 5 Pace for a 7:00 p.m. ET start.

 

The NE10 Final is set for Sunday, November 7. None of the remaining teams have ever won an NE10 title.

After a completely perfect regular season, Shippensburg has earned the No. 1 seed in the 2021 Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference (PSAC) Championship. The No. 1 seed and No. 2 seed East Stroudsburg both received a bye into the Semifinals that will take place on Friday, November 5. 

 

Quarterfinal play took place on Tuesday, November 2 with No. 3 West Chester topping No. 6 Kutztown, 3-1, and No. 4 Millersville defeating No. 5 IUP, 3-0.

 

No. 3 West Chester’s Varlie Van Kuijck scored a goal and assisted on another to lead the Golden Rams to the PSAC Semifinals. After a scoreless first quarter, Claudia Jaszczak tipped a pass past Kutztown’s goalkeeper in the 22nd minute. Just over a minute into the second half, Dara Spavlik blasted a shot off a penalty corner. Van Kuijck than finished off a nice individual effort to seal the win.

 

No. 4 Millersville is headed to PSAC Semifinals for the ninth season in a row after dispatching No. 5 IUP, 3-0. After a scoreless first quarter, the Marauders scored in each of the remaining frames. They outshot the visiting Crimson Hawks 19 to 2, and held a 9 to 2 advantage in penalty corners.

 

In the Semifinals, No. 1 Shippensburg will face No. 4 Millerville at 1:00 p.m. ET and No. 2 East Stroudsburg will meet No. 3 West Chester at 3:30 p.m. ET. The winners will play for the PSAC Title on Sunday November 7 at 1:00 p.m. ET.

 

The last time this tournament was held was back in 2019 where East Stroudsburg claimed their first title since 2015 with a 1-0 win over Kutztown.

The South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Championship got underway on Tuesday evening in the Quarterfinal round. Both No. 1 Converse and No. 2 Limestone received byes directly into the Semifinals.

 

Taking place in Spartansburg, S.C., the first Quarterfinal game saw No. 3 Belmont Abbey shutout No. 6 Queens, 2-0. After a scoreless first quarter, the Crusaders scored two in the second frame as the offense kept Queens on their heels taking a total of 11 shots. The Royals held the advantage in penalty corners, 9 to 5. Belmont Abbey last appeared in the SAC Semifinals in 2019. The team also qualified in 2018 when the tournament field was four teams.

 

The second Quarterfinal was a close battled between No. 3 Newberry and No. 5 Mount Olive. Deadlocked at 2-2 heading into the final frame, two late goals powered the Wolves to a 4-2 victory.

 

The Semifinals are set to take place Friday, November 5. First No. 2 Limestone will meet No. 3 Belmont Abbey at 2:00 p.m. ET followed by No. 1 Converse against No. 4 Newberry at 5:00 p.m. ET.

 

The SAC Final will be held on Sunday, November 7 at 2:00 p.m. ET.
