Hosted by Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia, Pa., the 2021 Atlantic 10 (A10) Championship kicks off on Friday, November 5.

After claiming their fifth regular season championship in six years, No. 1 Saint Joseph's will take on No. 4 Richmond in the first Semifinal  at 11:00 a.m. ET. This game is a repeat of the 2019 championship, where the Hawks took home the title with a 1-0 victory over the Spiders. Saint Joseph's enters the tournament on a four-game winning streak, with two of those wins coming against ranked teams. The Hawks lead the nation in penalty corners, earning 161 on the year for a rate of nearly nine per game.  SJU also ranks seventh in Division I in points per game and goals per game. The Hawk defense has posted nine shutouts; only top-ranked Iowa has kept more opponents off the scoreboard. Richmond enters the postseason on a  three-game skid, with losses to then-No. 17 Wake Forest, VCU and Georgetown. The Spiders' most recent victory was a big one, however, as they topped then-No. 21 UMass, 1-0, on the road on October 17.

No. 2 Virginia Commonwealth meets No. 3 Massachusetts in the second Semifinal at 2:00 p.m. ET. Defending champions VCU has won three in a row heading into the weekend, with home wins over then-No. 17 Wake Forest and Ball State preceding a win at rival Richmond last Friday that sealed the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament for the Rams. A win over Lock Haven on Saturday gave UMass  the third seed after the Minutewomen closed the regular season with three consecutive wins of their own. After the loss to Richmond, UMass routed La Salle before securing a 2-1 win at then-No. 18 UConn and blanking Lock Haven, 3-0.

In their regular season meeting, UMass lost to VCU 1-0 back on October 1st and will be looking to bounce back in this win or go home matchup. In another 1-0 game, Saint Josephs beat Richmond by that margin in their regular season contest back on September 26.

The winners will meet in the A10 Final on Saturday, November 6 at 1:00 p.m. ET.

With seven programs competing, Iowa has earned the bye into the Semifinals and will meet the winner of No. 4 Michigan and No. 5 Northwestern, the first Quarterfinal game set for Thursday, November 4 at 11:00 a.m. ET. Michigan converted on a penalty corner although Northwestern controlled much of the overtime periods with a 4-0 advantage in shots. Michigan owns a 4-2 edge against Northwestern in Big Ten Tournament meetings and has won each of the last two, including a 3-1 decision in the 2018 quarterfinals.
