by USA Field Hockey

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Greg Drake has been appointed by USA Field Hockey as the head coach of the U.S. Women’s National Team and will lead the program through the remainder of the 2021-22 FIH Hockey Pro League season. This follows the resignation of Anthony Farry for personal reasons.

Drake joined USA Field Hockey in November 2020 as the USWNT Assistant Coach and led the team as head coach in Farry’s absence in the first FIH Hockey Pro League games. Drake has previously been part of the coaching staff of the Japanese Women’s National Team.

Through his role as the performance analyst at the Victorian Institute of Sport hockey program and through contacts with Hockey Australia, Drake developed intimate knowledge of the athlete pathway, system and infrastructure that are required for top level field hockey.

Drake, who holds the highest field hockey coaching accreditation available in Australia, has more than 15 years’ experience coaching teams from the junior to international level.

Drake will lead the USWNT when they take on Argentina on Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17 in Buenos Aries in FIH Hockey Pro League action.
