Drake Selects FIH Hockey Pro League Roster for Home England Games

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – With a quick turnaround following their trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina, U.S. Women's National Team Head Coach Greg Drake and coaching staff have named 20-athlete FIH Hockey Pro League roster that will compete in Chapel Hill, N.C. against England.

 

“The athletes are really looking forward to playing our first matches at home since early 2020,” said Drake. “We've enjoyed the opportunity to test ourselves against top quality opponents over the past couple of months and are expecting this weekend to be another significant challenge. We're heavily investing in the emerging available talent in the USA. As such, we've brought in five young players all to make their [FIH Hockey] Pro League debuts this weekend.”

 

Making their FIH Hockey Pro League Season 3 debut Alia Marshall (Rehoboth Beach, Del.), Ashley Sessa (Schwenksville, Pa.), Sofia Southam (Ann Arbor, Mich.), Beth Yeager (Greenwich, Conn.)and Maddie Zimmer (Hershey, Pa.).

The No. 15 USWNT is coming off a trip to Buenos Aires where they took on No. 2 Argentina. In their first contest, USA held a lead at the half, but Las Leonas capitalized on three penalty corners to overcome a strong performance by the red, white and blue, 1-3. In the second game, after a scoreless first quarter, Argentina converted on three field goals in each of the resuming periods for the 3-0 victory.

 

These home matches will take place at Karen Shelton Stadium on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased by clicking here, and they will also be available to purchase onsite. The cost is $10 for youth (17 and under) and $20 for adult general admission. There is an option to purchase a weekend bundle, tickets for both games, at $15 for youth (17 and under) and $30 for adult general admissions. Tickets are for the stands and no specific seat assignment is given. ADA seats are available.
