What You Need to Know:
Following an Olympic bronze medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Germany continues to look like a team that an challenge the best. A bronze medal in the inaugural FIH Hockey Pro League and silver medals at the two most recent European Championship events prove that Die Danas really are a class act. Things didn't go as planned at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where they suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of eventual silver medalists Argentina in the quarterfinals. With head coach Xavier Reckinger leaving his position at the end of 2021, Germany will be determined to show that they were merely bumps in the road on a journey full of promise.
One athlete to watch is Charlotte Stapenhorst, who is a lively attacker who uses her 3D skills and creativity against the opposition defense.
