With conference play finally finished, the 2022 America East (AE) Conference Championship stage has been set. The host, however, has long been decided – No. 1 Maine enters its last regular season game unbeaten in conference play and sits at No. 23 in the national polls.
As a result, the Black Bears will have a bye to the semifinals, where they’ll face the winner of No. 4 Vermont vs. No. 5 Stanford. Maine, after winning its first AE Championship in 2021, will attempt to go back-to-back and return to the NCAA Tournament.
The other bye belongs to No. 2 Albany, who finished an identical 6-2 in conference play with No. 3 UMass Lowell but has the tiebreaker thanks to a 3-1 win over the River Hawks. The Great Danes — who actually rank higher in the national polls than Maine, at No. 17 — are looking to avenge a loss to Maine in the Championship last season, and win their first title since 2018 (when they beat the Black Bears, 2-0).
The remaining three feature No. 4 Vermont, No. 5 Stanford, and No. 6 New Hampshire. The Cardinal will seek to return to its winning ways after claiming back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019. New Hampshire will be looking for its fourth AE title, and first since 2013. Vermont is returning to tournament play for the first time since 2018. The quarterfinals will be held on Thursday, November 3 at 12:00 p.m. for New Hampshire and UMass Lowell, and 3:00 p.m. ET for Stanford and Vermont. The semifinals will be held the next day at the same start times, beginning with a match between No. 1 Maine and the 4/5 winner – followed up with the #3#6 winner playing No. 2 UAlbany.
The AE Championship game will be on Sunday, November 6 at 12:00 p.m. ET. The winner will earn the conference’s NCAA automatic qualifier.

The Atlantic 10 (A10) Conference tournament kicks off with two semifinal matches on Thursday, November 3. No. 2 Massachusetts will host at the Gladchuk Field Hockey Complex in Amherst, Mass. The two winners of the semifinals will come together for the championship match on Saturday, November 5 at 12:00 p.m. ET. All games will be live streamed on ESPN+.
Play kicks off with a rematch of last year’s final, as No. 1 Saint Joseph’s takes on No. 4 VCU on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. ET. It will be followed by a matchup between No. 2 Massachusett and No. 3 Lock Haven at 2:00 p.m. ET.
Reigning champion Saint Joseph’s capped off conference play with a 4-0 win over La Salle. The Hawks went undefeated in A10 play and did so without conceding a single goal – easily clinching the No. 1 spot. In addition to impressive league play, St Joe’s is ranked No. 11 nationally, with four victories over ranked opponents. VCU finished off conference play and their season with a 2-1 victory over Richmond. The Rams will look to reverse last year’s final and this season’s matchup, when they fell 2-0 to the Hawks.
Massachusetts secured the No. 2 spot on October 28 with a win 4-0 over Lock Haven. The Minutewomen have also had a successful season, and sit at No. 20 in the Division I rankings. In 2021, Massachusetts’ title chances were stomped by VCU in the semifinal match, which ended in double overtime.
Saint Joseph’s 2021 A10 championship win was their fourth title in five years. In the 2020-21 season, it was VCU who was victorious – defeating Saint Joseph’s to clinch their first conference title.

A conference full of powerful programs, the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) welcomes all seven teams to the postseason. This year, the ACC Tournament will be hosted by No. 7 Duke in Durham, NC.
The ACC includes none other than number one in the nation – North Carolina. The Tar Heels are 15-0 and finished undefeated in conference, earning them the No. 1 seed and a bye to the conference semifinal. Field hockey’s favorite Erin Matson leads the Tar Heels and the nation in points per game (3.36) and goals per game (1.43) She has received the NFHCA Offensive Player of the Week honor three times this season. Teammate and freshman Ryleigh Heck received the award earlier in October.
The tournament kicks off on Tuesday, November 1 with three exciting matchups. At 1:00 p.m. ET, No. 4 Boston College will take on No. 5 Syracuse. The winner of this match will take on No. 1 North Carolina in the semifinals on Wednesday, November 2 at 1:00 p.m. ET. The Eagles were North Carolina’s biggest conference challenger, falling in a 4-3 match in which they outshot the Tar Heels.
Following up at 3:30 p.m. ET, No. 2 Wake Forest will play No. 7 Duke. The Demon Deacons notched their fifth straight conference win in a big way – by defeating Syracuse 4-0 – to secure the No. 2 seed. Despite some big wins outside of league play, the Blue Devils could not seem to get a good grip in conference, and finished out conference play at 0-6. The final match of the first round will begin at 6:00 p.m. ET and feature No. 3 Virginia and No. 6 Louisville. The winner of these two contests will clash at 3:30 p.m. ET on the Wednesday, November 2 semifinal day.
A winner will be crowned two days later after the championship match at 2:00 p.m.ET on Friday, November 4. All matches will be broadcast on the ACC Network.
Aside from North Carolina’s far and away success so far this season, it appears that the ACC could be anyone’s on any given day. North Carolina has won the past five titles – the last team to win other than the Tar Heels was Virginia in 2016. Every team in the ACC is currently ranked nationally, including four teams in the top ten: No. 1 North Carolina, No. 5 Virginia, No 9 Louisville and No. 9 Syracuse. We are likely to see a few ACC teams garner a bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Hosted in Norfolk, Va by No. 1 Old Dominion, the Big East Field Hockey Championship, presented by Jeep, commences on Friday, November 4 with two semifinal matches. At 1:00 p.m. ET, No. 1 ODU will take on No. 4 Temple, followed by a 4:00 p.m. ET start for No. 2 Liberty against No. 3 Connecticut. These games will be available to watch on FloSports.
With an impressive 14-2 season and 6-1 conference finish, Old Dominion clinched the top seed for the first time in the Big East (having joined in 2013.) The Monarchs – who carry just two losses so far – boast three ranked victories and are currently ranked No. 14 in Division I.
Ranked slightly below the Monarchs in both the national ranks (No. 16) and the conference postseason seeding (No. 2) is Liberty. In their historic 2021 season, the Flames defeated ODU 2-1 in the conference final, and went on to compete in the NCAA Title match for the first time in program history. This past Friday, ODU and Liberty had a heated match in which neither team could find the back of the cage. It was the Monarchs who were victorious after winning in shootouts. A force to be reckoned with, Old Dominion’s goalkeeper Cam MacGillivray is ranked first in Division I in save percentage (0.835) and second in goals against average (0.87)
Ranked No. 11 nationally but No. 3 in the seeding is Connecticut. The Huskies are set to start the postseason against Liberty in a rematch of the 2021 Big East Final. When head-to-head this season, the Flames won 4-0. UConn was recently upset 3-2 in their final league game by Temple. It was a crucial win for the Owls, securing them the No. 4 spot.
The final will take place on Sunday, November 6 at 4:00 p.m. ET, and will be streamed for the first time on Fox Sports 1.
After a 15-2 regular season in 2021, Liberty made a postseason run all the way to the NCAA Championship – where they fell 2-0 to Northwestern. The top three seeds all currently are ranked nationally – almost consecutively – with UConn at No. 13, ODU at No. 14, and Liberty at No. 16.

With the conclusion of conference play on October 28, seven teams have punched their ticket and been seeded in anticipation of the Big Ten Tournament. Play will commence with what is sure to be some thrilling field hockey on Thursday, November 3. Ohio State’s Buckeye Varsity Field in Columbus, Ohio will be the ground on which these teams will battle it out.
Pulling out some massive wins this season and clinching the No. 1 seed through tiebreaker is Penn State. With this spot, the Lions will receive an automatic bye to the semifinal round.
No. 4 Michigan will kick off the first round of play at 11:00 a.m. ET on Thursday, November 3 against No. 5 Iowa. The winner of this matchup will continue on to try their luck against No. 1 Penn State in the semifinal round.
No. 2 Maryland lost the top seed tiebreaker with their recent 5-1 loss to Penn State, but were able to secure their No. 2 spot with wins over their remaining B1G companions. They will play No. 7 Ohio State in the first round at 2:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, November 3. Later that day, No. 3 Northwestern will play No. 6 Rutgers at 5:00 p.m. ET. The two teams who come out on top will then play each other in the semifinal on Friday, November 4 at 4:00 p.m. ET.
To recap the regular season outcomes of all these upcoming matches – Michigan blanked Iowa twice, Maryland defeated Ohio State 4-2, and Rutgers upset Northwestern 2-1. To highlight a few of the many dominant players that power these seven teams – Northwestern’s Bente Baekers, who received the NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week award earlier this season, is currently ranked second nationally for points per game at 2.88. Penn State’s Sophia Gladieux is not far behind at 2.69 – putting her fourth in the nation. Earlier in the season, after defeating then-No. 3 Iowa and then-No. 2 Northwestern in the same weekend, Maryland swept the NFHCA weekly awards with Rayne Wright and Danielle van Rootselaar selected as the Division I Defensive and Offensive Player of the Week, respectively. In the cage, Michigan’s Anna Speiker holds the best goals against average in Division I at 0.73 while Ohio State’s Abby Danson is fourth (0.95).
In a conference postseason where six of the seven teams are ranked in the top-ten, not winning the conference title will likely not be the end of your season. In 2021, it was Rutgers who wore the B1G crown, but Northwestern – who fell to Michigan in the first round of the tournament – who ended up NCAA Division I National Champions. In addition to the Scarlet Knights, five additional B1G teams ended up with a bid to the NCAA tournament last fall.

In a season full of mixed and matched conference wins and losses, four teams are finally seeded and set for the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) postseason. The 2021 champion Delaware will host the action at Fred P Rullo Stadium in Newark, Del. for the seventh consecutive year. For those watching online, all matches will be streamed on FloSports.
Dominating the CAA in the past decade, Delaware has won eight of the past nine championship titles – including in 2016 when they were the NCAA Tournament champions. The departure of James Madison – who had often been the runner-up to Delaware – from the CAA this season may have eliminated a top competitor, but Monmouth has proven to be a worthy replacement. The Hawks went 5-1 and came out on top as the No. 1 seed in their first season in the CAA. The spot was clinched with a 4-2 win over Drexel on Friday.
Semifinals ensue for these four hopefuls on Friday, November 4. At 1:00 p.m. ET, No. 1 Monmouth will see No. 4 Drexel for the second time in just one week – followed by a matchup between No. 2 Delaware and No. 3 Northeastern at 4:00 p.m. ET. Earlier in October, the Blue Hens needed shootouts to take down the Huskies in a close 3-2 win. The two teams to come out intact will face off in the CAA Championship match, which is slated for Sunday, November 6 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
Ranked as high as No. 16 in Division I early this fall after downing three ranked teams, William and Mary’s season took an unexpected turn that ended in them not qualifying for the CAA Tournament.

The 2022 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship gets underway on Friday, November 4, in Oxford, Ohio with a pair of exciting semifinal matchups. After a dramatic final day of conference play, Miami (Ohio) and Kent State finished out 6-1 conference campaigns to share the MAC’s regular season title, but the RedHawks claim the No. 1 seed by virtue of a 2-1 win over the Flashes in mid-October.
The pair shared the regular season title last year as well, but it was Miami who came away as the 2021 MAC Champions - their seventh straight title. This season has been much of the same, with the Red Hawks’ lone loss coming to Longwood in double overtime. No. 2 Kent State was the last team to win before Miami’s reign of dominance, having won three straight tournaments from 2014 to 2016.
Miami will face No. 4 Ball State, who used to dominante the conference from its inception - winning nine titles - but hasn’t had the same success as of late. The Flashes, meanwhile, could have their hands full with No. 3 Appalachian State. The Mountaineers closed their season on Sunday, having won nine straight — five of which came in MAC play. App State narrowly lost to both Miami and Kent State by a single goal.
The winner of the MAC Championship will earn the conference’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.

With a 2-0 win over Wagner on Friday followed by a divisive 6-0 victory over Merrimack, Rider locked up the Northeast Conference (NEC) regular season title in addition to the No. 1 seed going into postseason play. Wagner’s single conference loss to Rider put them at No. 2, while Fairfield’s earlier win over Saint Francis puts them at No. 3 and their opponent at No. 4. The tournament will be hosted by No. 2 Wagner in Staten Island, N.Y. for the third time in four years. All games will be broadcast on ESPN3.
The NEC opens up tournament play on Friday, November 4 with two semifinal matches – the first at 11:00 a.m. ET. Despite clinching the No. 1 spot, Rider will be forced to play the only league opponent they fell to this season – No. 4 Saint Francis. The Red Flash pulled out a 3-2 victory over the Broncs in their conference opener back in September. Since that fateful game, Rider has not conceded a single loss. No. 2 Wagner will clash with No. 3 Fairfield – a team they defeated 2-1 earlier in October – at 2:00 p.m. ET.
At 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 6 at the Wagner College Field Hockey Complex, the two semifinal winners will meet in the championship match to determine who will take the title of NEC Champion and continue on to the NCAA Tournament. Last season, it was Fairfield who came out on top with a 3-1 win over LIU. Rider and Fairfield have been the only two champions in the past six years.
Recently reinstated for the 2019 season, the Wagner field hockey team is a newer addition to the NEC. The Seahawks – alongside Saint Francis, who recently had a brief spell in the Atlantic 10 – are seeking their first NEC title.
