Singh Names 2022-23 Senior & Development U.S. Men’s National Team Rosters

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Following the opportunity for evaluation at the two Open Trial Weekends, U.S. Men’s National Team Head Coach Harry Singh and his staff have named the 2022-23 Senior and Development U.S. Men’s National Team rosters.

“We finished our men’s senior core selection process last week after tryouts,” said Harry Singh, USMNT Head Coach. “Based on the individual performance, a large pool of players was selected to provide depth to the team. Next year is a very busy calendar for us, including the most important event, the Pan American Games, which will be the qualifying tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.”

“Keeping Paris 2024 in mind, we want to see healthy competition and an environment within the squad which can challenge and motivate each athlete to achieve our team goals. Our team’s success is not dependent upon a few top performers, but on every team member to own a piece of the process and get things done!”

More than 44 athletes attended either the first Open Trial weekend held in Spring City, Pa. On August 13 or the second Open Trial weekend held in Moorpark, Calif. on September 2 and 5.

A well-known name on the senior squad, with the most international experience, is Pat Harris (Moorpark, Calif.), USMNT Assistant Coach, U-21 USMNT Head Coach and Indoor USMNT, who has 160 caps and has been part of the team for the past 22 years. The team consists of a handful of highly capped athletes in Michael Barminski (96)(Ventura, Calif.), Ajai Dhadwal (127)(Agoura Hills, Calif.), Mohan Gandhi (111)(Great Britain), Will Holt (146)(Camarillo, Calif.), Aki Kaeppeler (84)(New York City, N.Y), Adam Miller (83)(Panama City, Fla.), Johnny Orozco (103)(Ventura, Calif.), Paul Singh (94)(Simi Valley, Calif.) and Tyler Sundeen (109)(Simi Valley, Calif.).

They are joined by several athletes who were also just named to the 2022-23 Junior USMNT Training Squads in Sekayi Charasika (Louisville, Ky.), Gerald Cutone (Middleton, Mass.), Mehtab Grewal (Somis, Calif.), Wyatt Katz (Santa Rosa Valley, Calif.), Marius Leser (Mannheim, Germany), Michael Mendoza (Monument, Colo.) and Amar Singh (Santa Clara, Calif.), with Cutone, Grewal, Katz, Leser and Mendoza already notching several caps with the senior team.

 Making their debut on the USMNT is Simón Homedes Dualde (Portland, Ore.), Dean Schiller (Alexandria, Va.), who was a member of the 2021-22 Development Team; and Jaiveer Singh (Hayward, Calif.).

Three goalkeepers were named to the squad. Jonathan Klages (Berlin, Germany) is the most capped (43) and he is joined by Hamzah Hashmi (Granada Hills, Calif.), who has 3 caps after playing at the 2022 Pan American Cup in Santiago, Chile and 2022 4-Nations Tournament in Glasgow, Scotland, and Amar Singh (Santa Clara, Calif.).

The U.S. Men’s National Development Team is made up of 22 athletes, a handful who have been involved in the indoor and outdoor men’s programs for years. Eleven athletes who were named to the 2021-22 squad, were re-selected to the 2022-23 group. A few athletes have represented USA on the international stage with Parampal Bajwa (1)(Simi Valley, Calif.), Amrit Beaty (6)(Simi Valley, Calif.), Graeme Jackson (1)(Moorpark, Calif.) and Nick Richardson (8)(Sunapee, N.H.). In April, Eddie Fuentes (San Juan, Puerto Rico) played for Puerto Rico at the 2022 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games Qualifier in Pembroke, Bermuda, and helped the team qualify for the 2022 CAC Games.
