SAINT MICHAEL, Barbados - With less than a month to go, the Pan American Hockey Federation (PAHF) has revealed the competition schedule for the 2023 Junior Pan American Championship (JPAC). Taking place April 10 to 18 at the Sir Garfield Sobers Sports Complex in Saint Michael, Barbados, this men's and women's event is a qualifier for the 2023 FIH Junior Hockey World Cup.

Making up the men’s competition is Argentina, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Guyana and USA. In the women’s competition is Argentina, Barbados, Canada, Chile, Guyana, Uruguay and USA.

In 2021, for the second time in JPAC history, the U.S. U-22 Men's National Team brought home bronze after beating Canada in a shootout. Deadlocked at 1-1 following regulation, the shootout went down to the final person where USA capitalized on a foul and converted the penalty stroke for the win. Although USA missed out qualifying for the 2021 FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup event directly, they were invited as the first reserve from the PAHF region after Australia and New Zealand pulled out. The U.S. U-22 Women's National Team also brought home bronze and earned a spot at the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup after beating Chile in a shootout. Tied 1-1 after regulation, it went down to the final round of the shootout for USA to prevail 3-2. The Junior Eagles won the JPAC in 2008, took home silver in 1988, 2000, 2005 and 2016, and bronze in 1997, 2012 and 2021.
