MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay The No. 14 U.S. Women’s National Team opened play at the 2025 Pan American Cups in Montevideo, Uruguay with a high-scoring, shutout win over No. 29 Mexico. Six different athletes contributed to the 10-0 scoreline, with Beth Yeager recording a hat-trick.

Just 37 seconds into the contest, quick passing found Claire Danahy, who pushed a bouncing ball into the circle that Beth Yeager touched in for the early lead.

USA went on to tally two more in the opening frame – another from Beth Yeager off a penalty corner and then a field goal from Maddie Zimmer. Abby Tamer got her name on the sheet just inside the second quarter, capitalizing on goalkeeper/defender miscommunication to flick it into the net.

For the fifth tally, great passing got the ball to Ryleigh Heck, who easily pulled around Mexico’s goalkeeper and lifted it into the net.

Abby Tamer made it 6-0 after touching a bouncing shot by Sanne Caarls into the goal. Then, in the 24th minute and off a penalty corner, Beth Yeager recorded her hat-trick.

Caroline Ramsey added her name to the scoresheet by tucking a low drag into the corner, putting USA up 8-0 in the 35th minute.

In the 44th minute, Ryleigh Heck grabbed her second of the contest on a backhand into the corner. USA added a final tally three minutes later when a give and go between Emma DeBerdine and Abby Tamer was finished off the post by Sanne Caarls.

Mexico were more compact in the second half and we needed to be more patient at times. Good to get a win on the board, but we have a big next game which is our only focus now."

Next Up: The USWNT will play their second 2025 Pan American Cup pool game on Sunday, July 27 against No. 12 Chile at 4:30 p.m. ET. All games can be streamed on Watch.Hockey (PPV).
