Junior High Performance Staff Announces U-18 USWNT Head Coach
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Field Hockey’s Junior High Performance (JHP) staff is excited to announce the appointment of Jamie Montgomery as head coach of the U.S. U-18 Women’s National Team.
“We are thrilled to make this announcement,” said Grant Fulton, USA Field Hockey’s Director of Junior High Performance. “Jamie has a wealth of expertise and experience which will help foster an environment for the athletes to thrive. We are very fortunate for her leadership as she continues to support our Junior National athletes along the pathway.”
Montgomery transitions into this role after serving as assistant coach of the U-18 USWNT for two years, traveling with the teams to their recent tours in Belgium (2024) and England (2025). She holds both a Level 3 USA Field Hockey Coaching Certification and FIH Level II Coaching Certification. Also heavily involved in the coach education side, Montgomery has led several USA Field Hockey Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching Clinics.
Montgomery brings an extensive coaching background which includes over ten years in the college ranks. Most recently, she was the head coach at the University of Richmond for six seasons and previously served as the assistant coach at her alma mater Wake Forest University and associate head coach at Bucknell University.
Also involved in the background of college athletics, Montgomery was elected to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Board of Directors in February 2021, where she served a three-year term as the Division I Board Representative. While in that role, she managed communication between the NCAA and NFHCA staff to the Division I coaching group, in addition to creating and leading the agenda and discussions for the NFHCA convention.
During her career as an athlete, Montgomery reached high levels of competition. She was selected to the U.S. Women’s National Team in 2013 and was a member of the 2013 Hockey World League and Pan American Cup teams. At Wake Forest, she was a four-year starter and member of two National Championship teams. She earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), NCAA All-Tournament and Second Team All-American honors.
"It is such an honor to be selected for this role,” commented Montgomery. “The past two years of coaching in the Junior High Performance pathway with such a dedicated group of players and coaches has been absolutely amazing. Thank you, USA Field Hockey, for this opportunity and I am excited to get to work in December!”
Next up for the U-18 USWNT are two Selection Camps, both held in Charlotte, N.C. The first will be December 5 to 7 and the second January 9 to 11.
