Indoor USMNT Battled Higher Ranked Opponents on Day 2 of Rohrmax Cup

VIENNA, Austria – The No. 15 U.S. Men’s National Team faced a tough slate on the second day of the 2026 Rohrmax Cup, taking on two higher-ranked opponents. USA fell to No. 11 Croatia, 9–4, before narrowly dropping a 4–3 decision to No. 13 Switzerland.

A little more than a minute into the contest, Croatia got on the board with a textbook deflection off the post. In the 5th minute, USA earned a penalty stroke but unfortunately Mehtab Grewal sent the attempt wide. Two minutes later, Croatia was issued a penalty stroke and converted to double their lead, and 30 seconds after that they tallied another to make it 3-0. USA responded on the resuming play, earned a penalty stroke and this time, Mehtab Grewal was successful to cut the margin.

Croatia added two more in the second to bring it to 5-1.

The scoring trend continued in the second half for Croatia who tallied two more in each of the frames, while USA added two in the third and one in the fourth to make the final to 9-4. The Wolves' first goal came in the 21st minute when Vincent Heller scored a reverse flick into the far corner. Next, in the 25th minute, Max Schönfelder picked off his defender, spun and put it in the back of the goal. Lastly, Mehtab Grewal scored, assisted by Lasse Nobereit, with seconds left to close the game.

The No. 15 Indoor USMNT match with No. 13 Switzerland was a back-and-forth affair from the start. Switzerland held a 1-0 lead after the first quarter, but USA responded in the second tallying two goals to take the 2-1 halftime lead.

Each side scored in the third to bring it to 3-2, in favor of USA, but the final frame was all Switzerland who went on to come-from-behind and score two unanswered for the narrow 4-3 win.

In the contest, Max Schönfelder scored twice with Alex Beauduin adding the other.
