2021 Disney Field Hockey Showcase Dates Set

KISSIMMEE, FLA. – USA Field Hockey and Disney are excited to announce that the annual Disney Field Hockey Showcase will take place June 18-20 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Fla. This event was originally scheduled to be held in January and was shifted to later in the year due to COVID-19 federal, state and local travel restrictions and concerns. The 2021 Disney Field Hockey Showcase, a USA Field Hockey Sanctioned Event, will include the addition of many safety protocols to promote a safe and fun tournament for all participants.
A visit to Walt Disney World® Resort is always magical. Each year the Disney Field Hockey Showcase promises to provide high-level competition, excitement and memories for every member of the field hockey family. The 2021 event will be smaller than in past years and include U-14 Girls, U-16 Girls and U-19 Girls divisions, all competing in 11v11 game formats. Registration for this year’s tournament will be limited to just 128 teams, and games will be staggered to prevent crowds and promote social distancing. Registration will open on Monday April 12 at 6:00 p.m. ET and will be conducted online as in previous years through the Got Soccer registration platform which will be accessible on USA Field Hockey’s Disney Showcase Event page. If teams have questions regarding the registration process, please contact USA Field Hockey at events@usafieldhockey.com. Registration will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
“USA Field Hockey and Disney are thrilled to be offering the Disney Field Showcase in 2021” said Lisa McCoy, Director of Nexus and Programs. “While we are disappointed to have to reduce the number of teams and eliminate the U-12 co-ed divisions in 2021, we feel it is important to give the high school age group more opportunities to compete since they missed competition opportunities as a result of the pandemic. Disney Sports and USA Field Hockey have the highest safety standards and are working to make sure protocols are in place to deliver a safe, fun and magical experience for players, coaches and families.”
USA Field Hockey and Disney have been partners since 2006. The Disney Field Hockey Showcase is one of several elite youth sports events at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, one of the premier sites for amateur sports in the nation. Although Spectator Admission has previously been required for family and friends wishing to watch their favorite athlete, this fee will be waived for 2021, making the event more affordable for families.
Additionally, participating families will continue to be offered discounted park admission but will not be required to stay on Disney property. Hotel reservations for this year will be handled through Team Travel Source and will continue to be a stay to play event.
