USA Field Hockey to Return to Disney in 2022

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – USA Field Hockey and Disney are excited to announce that the annual event will continue in 2022 but under a new event name. Organized and run by USA Field Hockey, the 2022 Sunshine Showcase at ESPN Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World® Resort will take place January 28 through 30 in Kissimmee, Fla.

 

A visit to Walt Disney World® Resort is always magical. Each year the Sunshine Showcase, previously the Disney Field Hockey Showcase, promises to provide high-level competition, excitement and memories for every member of the field hockey family. The 2022 event include U-10 Co-Ed (7v7), U-12 Co-Ed (7v7), U-14 Girls (7v7), U-14 Girls (11v11), U-16 Girls (11v11) and U-19 Girls (11v11) divisions. Registration will open Wednesday, November 17 at 12:00 p.m. ET and will be conducted online through USA Field Hockey’s Webpoint system. “USA Field Hockey is thrilled to extend our partnership with Disney and to bring our members back to the ESPN Wide World of Sports,” said Madeline Hoeppner, USA Field Hockey’s Senior Events and Club Services Manager. “The atmosphere at the complex is truly like no other and we are excited to be able to offer this opportunity to our members.”

 

USA Field Hockey and Disney have been partners since 2006, with just 56 teams in attendance, and has grown in 2020 to include more than 180 teams. The Sunshine Showcase is one of several elite youth sports events at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, one of the premier sites for amateur sports in the nation. More than 100 of the top collegiate coaches and recruiters who come to Disney to recruit the best players in the country.

Additionally, participating families will continue to be offered discounted park admission but will not be required to stay on Disney property. Hotel reservations for this year will be handled through Team Travel Source and will continue to be a stay to play event.
