Weekend College Games: NCAA Division III Semifinals & Final

The NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship field is set! Below is a breakdown of the upcoming games and how to watch!

In the NCAA Semifinals, which will take place Saturday, November 20, Middlebury will take on Rowan, while Trinity will play Johns Hopkins.The winners of the Semifinals will face off in the Division III National Championship on Sunday, November 21 at 1:00 p.m. ET. The NCAA Semifinals and Final will be played at Robin Sheppard Field in Hartford, Conn.

The 2021 Semifinals and Final will be live streamed on NCAA.com.

Middlebury (20-0) advanced to the NCAA Semifinals after collecting a 2-0 win over Tufts on Saturday. Rowan (18-2) shutout Washington and Lee, 3-0, to make their fifth all-time appearance in the NCA Semifinals and first since 2012.

The Panthers kept their bid for a fourth-straight national championship alive in their shutout Third Round win. With the victory, Middlebury earns their 12th trip to the Semifinals where the Panthers will defend their 2019 title. They extended three impressive streaks in the win over the Jumbos. Overall, Middlebury has won 28-straight games and 47 on Kohn Field. In NCAA Tournament play, the program has picked up 14-consecutive victories.

The Profs extended their winning streak to 16 and improved to 18-2 overall with their win. Julia Patrone and Bridget Guinan each had a goal and an assist to lead Rowan and to give Washington and Lee their first loss of the season. Rowan will be seeking their second national title as they previously won the 2002 championship.

This is a rematch of the 2018 NCAA Semifinals where, Middlebury won 4-2.

Trinity (15-5) blanked Babson 3-0 to punch their ticket to the NCAA Semifinals for the third time, and first since 1998, and they will host the event this coming weekend. Johns Hopkins (21-0) scored three quick goals in the third and held off a late rally to defeat Bowdoin, 3-2, on Sunday to make their third straight trip to the NCAA Semifinals.

Senior Christine Taylor scored the game winning goal on a penalty stroke 3:24 into the fourth quarter to lead Trinity to a 2-0 victory over Babson. The Bantam earned a penalty stroke when senior India Shay was interfered with while trying to play the ball at the right corner of the cage during one of Trinity's 11 penalty corners. Their second goal came moments later on another penalty corner where Izzy Deveney lifted it into the net.

It was a tale of two haves for Johns Hopkins and Bowdoin as they battled through a scoreless first half and then combined for five goals in the final 28 minutes. The Blue Jays scored first off a penalty stroke two minutes into the third frame. Three minutes later, Johns Hopkins doubled their lead after converting on a penalty corner. Another three minutes following, they added another goal when Abby Birk blasted a shot into the back of the goal. The Polar Bears didn't go away and scored twice in a 26-second span in the fourth quarter to make it a one-goal game. Hopkins extends its school-record home win streak to 32 straight games.
