BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) and USA Field Hockey are excited to collaborate on a new coach education opportunity that will combine learning initiatives from each organization. The NFHCA Ready2Coach and USA Field Hockey Level 1 Certification collaboration will take place this summer at four sites across the United States.

“The NFHCA is excited to partner with USA Field Hockey on this collaborative initiative,” said Cate Clark, NFHCA Executive Director. “This is an essential and important step in identifying collaborative efforts to best serve our nation’s field hockey coaches. We are hopeful to continue identifying synergies for quality coaching education and community building in the future.”

USA Field Hockey’s Level 1 Program consists of two parts, the online course (Part 1) and an in-person, four-hour Level 1 Instructional Coaching Clinic (Part 2). Through the Level 1 Coaching Course, coaches will gain an understanding of why they coach, develop an appreciation of effective practice design principles, become comfortable in delivering basic skill development practices for field players and goalkeepers, and gain a basic understanding of “The USA Way” Player, Goalkeeper and Principles of Play.

The NFHCA Ready2 Coach Clinic will focus on preseason preparation, practice planning, and coaching fundamentals to kick off the 2022 fall season. Coaches will identify and assemble the key components of executing a successful preseason, engage in roundtable discussions with other coaches on relevant topics, and learn characteristics of effective practice design to include the use of game play and relevant progressions.

The first half of each regional clinic will be devoted to Part 2 of the USA Field Hockey Level 1 Certification and the NFHCA Ready2Coach Clinic will occupy the second half of the day. Coaches can sign up for either individual event or the full day consisting of both events.

Full-day registration costs $129, regardless of membership status at either organization, and includes USA Field Hockey Level I (Part 1 and Part 2) Coaching Certification and the NFHCA Ready2Coach Clinic. The cost to attend only the NFHCA Ready2Coach Clinic is $40 for NFHCA members and $55 for non-members. The cost to attain the USA Field Hockey Level I Coach Certification is $50 for USA Field Hockey members and $85 for non-members.

Coach educators for each event will be announced at a later date.

All clinics follow the same time schedule - 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. USA Field Hockey Level 1, one-hour lunch break, 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. NFHCA Ready2Coach Clinic.
