by USA Field Hockey

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Field Hockey and ESPN Wide World of Sports announced that the Sunshine Showcase will continue to be held at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort through 2026.

With the extension, the Sunshine Showcase will take place on the following dates:

  • 2022 – January 28-30
  • 2023 – January 27-29
  • 2024 – January 26-28
  • 2025 – January 24-26
  • 2026 – January 23-25

This year’s Sunshine Showcase sold out in 11 minutes and will feature U-10 Co-Ed (7v7), U-12 Co-Ed (7v7), U-14 Girls (7v7), U-14 Girls (11v11), U-16 Girls (11v11) and U-19 Girls (11v11) divisions. Each year this event traditionally features high-level competition and creates the opportunity for athletes and their families to make lasting memories while vacationing at Walt Disney World Resort.

“We’re thrilled to be back at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and our teams are too,” said Madeline Hoeppner, USA Field Hockey Director of Events. “The event itself seems to grow bigger and more diverse each year. With 200 teams participating this year it will be the biggest USA Field Hockey event at Walt Disney World Resort to date! This year, USA Field Hockey and the Long Island Field Hockey Club will launch the All Starz Field Hockey program, which is another big step forward for our sport.”

Field hockey is a sport for all, a sport for life, and All Starz Field Hockey is USA Field Hockey’s disability inclusive program in the United States. It utilizes traditional and adapted or modified equipment to make field hockey fun for everyone to discover, play and learn, and compete and improve. USA Field Hockey’s goal is to help build a network of All Starz programs so that All Starz athletes will have opportunity to play and compete at local, regional, national and ultimately international levels.

USA Field Hockey and ESPN Wide World of Sports have been working together since 2006 when there were just 56 teams in attendance. Last year, the showcase grew to 215 teams. More than 100 of the top collegiate field hockey coaches and recruiters come to ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex to recruit the best players in the country.

The Sunshine Showcase is one of several elite sporting events at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, such as ESPN Events Invitational, Disney Soccer Showcase Events, and Junior NBA Global Championship. ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex is one of the premier sites for amateur sports in the nation with 16 baseball/softball fields, a 9,500-seat ballpark, 18 multi-purpose outdoor fields for soccer, football, and field hockey, three indoor venues for basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, dance and other indoor sports, a track & field facility and a cross country course.
