U.S. Women’s Masters Confirms Dates for Annual Outdoor & Indoor Tryouts

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The U.S. Women’s Masters Committee has confirmed the annual outdoor and indoor tryouts for the 2022-23 calendar year. The outdoor tryout for selection to the 2022 Squads and World Masters Hockey (WMH) World Cup teams will take place Saturday, March 26 and Sunday, March 27 in Wilmington, Del. The indoor tryout for selection to the 2022-23 Squad will take place Saturday, April 2 in Spring City, Pa.

 

All athletes in the O-35, O-40, O-45, O-50, O-55, O-60 and O-65 age groups are invited to the outdoor and indoor tryouts. These squads will practice throughout the year and have the opportunity to represent USA at domestic and international competitions, including the WMH World Cups.

 

The outdoor tryout will take place on Saturday, March 26 and Sunday, March 27 at the 76ers Fieldhouse in Wilmington, Del. The O-35, O-40 and O-45 age divisions are slotted for March 26 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and March 27 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. ET, with the O-50, O-55, O-60 and O-65 on March 26 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. ET and March 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ET.

 

Athletes attending are asked to wear the designated sock color that correspondents with your age group: black/navy for the O-35 and O-50; white for the O-40 and O-55; and red/orange for the O-45, O-60 and O-65.

 

The tryout fee is $50 and is due by Wednesday, March 23, 2022. Once registered, individuals will receive more information on the payment method.

An athlete’s age qualification is calculated as of December 31. For example, if an athlete turns 50 on December 31, 2022 (i.e., born on December 31, 1972), this individual can play for the O-50 team.

 

2022 WMH Masters World Cups for women:

O-35 & O-40Nottingham, EnglandAugust 12-21, 2022

O-45, O-50, O-55, O-60 & O-65 Cape Town, South Africa October 1-10, 2022

 

If selected to travel to and attend one of the 2022 WMH Masters World Cup, the cost is self-funded and is approximately $2,500 to $4,500. This includes, but not limited to, uniforms, accommodation, airfare, ground transportation, coach, manager, physiologist, pins and player of the match gifts for opponents and team dinner.

 

As per World Masters Hockey regulations, to be eligible to represent a country in an inter-nation Masters event, "a player must be a national of that country or have been a resident of that country for a minimum of 12 months." The U.S. Men’s Masters Committee has interpreted this to mean be a citizen or have had permanent residence status for at least 12 months leading up to the first day of the tournament.

The outdoor tryout will take place on Saturday, April 2 at The Training Center in Spring City, Pa. The O-35, O-40 and O-45 age divisions are slotted from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with the O-50, O-55, O-60 and O-65 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. ET.

Since the bulk of the indoor season will be in 2023, please use your age as of December 31, 2023.

 

 

All athletes must be active members (temporary memberships will not be offered) of USA Field Hockey in order to participate in either tryout.
