Junior High Performance Announces Rosters for Women’s U-16 & Rise Series Against Canada

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Following a training camp last weekend, the Junior High Performance Staff has established the U.S. U-16 and Rise Women’s National Team rosters that will compete against Canada, in two separate series in different countries. Taking place from April 20 through 24, each squad will play a four-game series against their Canada counterpart.

 

The U-16 USWNT will travel to play Canada’s U-16 Team in Surrey and Vancouver, British Columbia. These matches will be live tweeted on Canada’s Twitter.

 

“We made strides last weekend with a lot of tactical information,” said Katie Bam, U-16 USWNT Head Coach. “The athletes were asked to try new things, step out of their comfort zones and they definitely didn’t disappoint. Once again, these athletes made selections very challenging.  I can’t wait to see how well we’ve retained the valuable information once we step on that pitch in Canada.”

The Rise USWNT will host Canada’s U-18 Squad at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. These matches are free and open to the public and will be live tweeted on USA Field Hockey’s Twitter.

 

“After a competitive and challenging camp, we are excited to announce our squad for the Canada series,” said Ralph Boersma, Rise USWNT Head Coach. “Compliments to the athletes attending the camp for maintaining focus and intensity throughout the weekend during at times challenging circumstances. Working together through the upcoming series of matches will allow each athlete, as well as the entire squad, to build and grow tactically, facilitating their transition to the next step in the Junior High Performance pipeline. We look forward to the fantastic opportunity to compete against Canada and represent the USA!”

Additionally, following the joint training camp in Durham, N.C. last week, several athletes were up for a trial after they were unable to attend the Selection Camp in February. Skyler Gilman (Odenton, Md.) was added to the U-16 USWNT while Emily Stafford (Dewey Beach, Del.) was added to the Rise USWNT.
