KINGSTON, Jamaica – The U.S. Men’s National Team took on Puerto Rico in their second pool game of the 2023 Hockey5s Pan American Cups (PAC) at Mona Hockey Field in Kingston, Jamaica. Tied 1-1 after the first 15 minutes, USA battled and tallied two goals in the final minutes for the 3-1 win.

“Winning today’s game is giving us three points to stay at the top of our pool,” commented Harry Singh, Hockey5s USMNT Head Coach. “All teams are playing some exciting games and we need to be aware of who we are going to face in our upcoming matches as it is important to sta competitive at this Hockey5s event.”

Puerto Rico produced the first shot of the game in the opening minute, but USA goalkeeper Tristan Clemons (Hattiesburg, Miss.) was there to make the stop. The Wolves immediately took possession the other way and Tyler Sundeen (Simi Valley, Calif.) sent a backhand toward goal that Amarpreet Sidhu (San Jose, Calif.) deflected in to break open the scoring. In the 4th minute, both sides shared attempts that were stopped by the opposing goalkeepers. The half played out with Clemons getting tested late as USA held the 1-0 advantage.

In the 14th minute, Puerto Rico evened the match when Joseph Agosto scored. This sparked the Wolves as a minute later they were back on top after Michael Barminski (Ventura, Calif.) scored. Moments later, Henzor Motta (San Juan, Puerto Rico) had an attempt sail over the goal as Clemons denied a Puerto Rico shot. With 2 minutes remaining, USA extended the lead when Motta drove the end board and dumped it back to Sundeen who scored to make the score 3-1 and secure the victory.

USA returns to the court tomorrow, June 6, when they take on Panama at 6:40 p.m. ET in their final pool game.
