For most, field hockey careers come to an abrupt halt with the final whistle of a senior athlete’s season. As the life circle of the sports world goes, their jerseys are then passed down to freshmen with the entrustment that they’ll continue building the program’s legacy and uphold excellence on the field. But what opportunities are left for those veterans to continue their play?

Cue the 2013 Harrow Cup.

The inaugural event is a post-collegiate women’s field hockey tournament with a $10,000 winner takes all cash prize. Eight teams will compete in the weekend long competition in Philadelphia, Pa. running from Friday, June 7 through Sunday, June 9.

Harrow Cup Schedule:

FRIDAY, JUNE 7 – Kick-Off Social at Ladder 15, 7-9 p.m.

No, you will not be reviewing film with your teammates the night before the tournament, instead Harrow will be hosting a Pre-Event Social at Ladder 15 in Philadelphia.  Teams will be able to enjoy discounted food and drinks while socializing with members from all teams. Uniforms and Equipment will be handed out as well as Team captain presentations. It will be a great way to reconnect with old and new teammates, as well as “hydrate” for the games the following day.  Check out Ladder 15 at Ladder15philly.com

SATURDAY, JUNE 8 – Tournament Play Begins

Tournament play will start Saturday for all teams at Temple University’s Geasey Field. The Harrow Cup Village will be the center of the tournament festivities, as well as the home of the illustrious Harrow Cup Trophy. Music, food, and drinks will be available throughout the day.  We will have side contests and other giveaways going on throughout the day as well!

SUNDAY, JUNE 9 – Crossovers and Championship Game

Every team will play at least one game on Sunday during the Pool Crossover section of the tournament. The final bracket will be announced once Registration is closed. The Championship Game and ceremony will be the final festivity of the weekend. The winning team will be awarded the Harrow Cup Trophy and the $10,000 Cash Prize!

Extend the length of American hockey careers and cultivate a life-time sport ethos through the provision of a National competition

Serve as the initiative event for the establishment of a United States Women’s FIH-Sanctioned Semi-Professional Premier League
