USA Field Hockey has added a “Goalkeeping Workshop” to the workshop series. Teaching goalkeeping and developing and managing goalkeepers is a common challenge. This three-hour workshop will help coaches teach the correct goalkeeping skills and provide suggestions on working with multiple goalkeepers in a team setting.

The focus of this workshop will be on teaching skills in a developmentally-appropriate way. New and experienced head and assistant coaches of youth, club, high school and collegiate athletes will be well-prepared to take their athletes and teams to the next level.

Coach Educator for this Coaching Goalkeeping Workshop:

Cheri Schulz | USA Field Hockey Trained Coach Educator | University of Connecticut Assistant Coach

Schulz is a USA Field Hockey Level 2 Certified coach, who is currently working with the goalkeepers on the 2019 U.S. U-17, U-19, U-21 Women’s National Teams and U.S. Women’s National Development Squad. This year, she will be helping with the goalkeeping for USA High Performance in the North region.

Schulz completed her 18th season with the University of Connecticut field hockey coaching staff in 2018, working primarily with goalkeepers. She is a native of New Holland, Pa. She graduated from Syracuse in 1996 with a bachelor degree in Physical Education.

She was inducted into the Connecticut Field Hockey Hall of Fame in October, 2018. In October, 2004 Schulz was inducted into the Hall of Fame at her alma mater, Garden Spot High School in New Holland, Pa.
