    The Level 1 Instructional Coaching Clinic will cover the following topics:

    • Learning & Age-Appropriate Development Principles   
    • Introduction to “Teaching Games for Understanding” 

    On-Field Learning and Application 

    • Basic Rules & Field Set-Up   
    • Fundamental Skills of Field Hockey - Grip Management   
    • Introduction to Attack and Defense Principles - Small Games  
    • The Basics of Goalkeeping  
    • Designing Fun and Effective Training Sessions  


    Instructor for this Level 1 Instructional Coaching Clinic:


    Courtney Veinotte | USA Field Hockey Trained Coach Educator | Hofstra University Head Coach

    Veinotte has been active with USA Field Hockey over the past several years, most recently as a Regional Futures Tournament selector. In 2018, she was a coach in the U-19 Girls National Futures Championship. Before that she served as a coach in the 2017 AAU Junior Olympic Games in Detroit, Mich. Veinotte earned a Level 2 coach certification in 2011.

     

    She completed her first season as head coach at Hofstra University in 2019 after serving two years as associate head coach. Prior to joining the Pride, she was an assistant coach at Maine for six seasons and two as associate head coach. From 2012-17 she was owner and director of the Black Bear Elite Field Hockey Club.

     

    Courtney Deena | USA Field Hockey Trained Coach Educator | Hofstra University Associate Head Coach

     

    Deena has worked for USA Field Hockey as a Futures coach since 2013. She coached at the Regional Futures Tournament from 2018-19. Deena is currently assistant field hockey coach at Hofstra University. She came to Hofstra after playing on the University of Louisville women's lacrosse team and earning a master's degree in sports coaching from Ohio State University in 2018.

     

    Deena, a native of Pickerington, Ohio, was a four-year letter winner in field hockey at the University of Maryland from 2013-16 seasons, where she earned a bachelor's degree in American Studies in 2017.

     

    Deena is also a US Lacrosse Coach Educator for LADM (Lacrosse Athlete Development Model), as well as a US Lacrosse Sankofa Clinician.
