The focus of this workshop will be on teaching skills in a developmentally-appropriate way. Technical instruction will include basic grips, detecting and correcting errors, ball control, passing and receiving, forehand and backhand skills, aerials, and more. New and experienced head and assistant coaches of youth, club, high school and collegiate athletes will be well-prepared to take their athletes and teams to the next level. 

Instructors for this Technical Skills Workshop:

Kayla Bashore | Two-Time Olympian | Indiana University Head Coach

Bashore is a Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympian and was a member of the U.S. Women's National Team from 2005-13, totaling 173 international caps. She was named head coach of Indiana in 2019 after three seasons as an assistant coach at Brown University (2014-16). She previously served as assistant at Transylvania University (2010-11) and Columbia (2009). From 2006-07, Bashore was as assistant coach for the Hoosiers after graduating in 2005. As a student-athlete she earned a number of honors, including Big Ten Player of the Year (2005), two-time All-American and four-time All-Big Ten selection. She remains one of Indiana's all-time leaders in goals (6th), points (7th) and shots (2nd).

Will Holt | U.S. Men's National Team Athlete | Indiana University Assistant Coach

Holt debuted for the U.S. Men's National Team in 2007 and has appeared in more than 140 international matches. He has served in many capacities with USA Field Hockey, including associate head coach of the U-16 USMNT, head coach of the U-18 USMNT and associate head coach of the U-21 USMNT.Additionally, Holt has served on the USA Field Hockey Judicial Committee since 2017 and was previously on the Athlete Advisory Council. 

He earned his bachelor's degree in health and human performance (exercise science) from the University of Louisville in 2013 and his master's in athletic administration in 2016. During his studies, Holt was also a volunteer assistant coach from 2012-15, serving as a penalty corner specialist and goal scoring expert, and also helped develop team game plans and film breakdown.
