Summer Bash Series

Summer means no school, no homework and all the time in the world to get on the field and play! That also means it’s the Summer Bash Series time to shine. Each summer, USA Field Hockey hosts the Summer Bash Northeast and Summer Bash at the Beach tournaments. Summer Bash Northeast was held in late June to early July was hosted in New England in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Summer Bash at the Beach, which is held in July, has called Virginia Beach, Va. home since the introduction of this event in 2015. Both tournaments that make up the Summer Bash Series feature competition for the U-10 Co-Ed, U-12 Co-Ed, U-14 Girls, U-17 Boys, Collegiate, Adult Women and Adult Mixed divisions.

    History:

    • This event was originally started as the USA Field Hockey Sanctioned Event, Disney Junior Field Hockey Showcase, to offer the younger age groups the chance to experience the same great national competition and top-notch tournament organization in 2012. The first year included a U-12 Co-Ed and U-14 Girls divisions.
    • Created in 2015, the Summer Bash at the Beach was formed to encourage a competitive atmosphere while emphasizing family fun.
    • In 2015, a U-12 Co-Ed division was added.
    • In 2016, a U-10 Co-Ed division was added.
    • In 2017, the structure of this event was reformatted to be called the Summer Bash Series. In addition to the third Summer Bash at the Beach, it was announced that the first Summer Bash in New England would take place at Brown University in Providence, R.I.
    • In 2018, the Summer Bash in New England was renamed Summer Bash Northeast, as the location moved to Lowell, Mass.
    • In 2018, a U-14 Boys division was added.
    • In 2020, a U-17 Boys (formerly U-14 Boys), Collegiate, Adult Women and Adult Mixed were supposed to be added but the event did not take place due to COVID-19.
    • In 2021, the Summer Bash at the Beach was first sanctioned and run by Hometown Sports.
    • In 2022, a U-14 Co-Ed division was added.
