USMNT Gears Up for 2022 PAC with Two-Leg Europe Tour

by USA Field Hockey

FRANKFURT, Germany & ANTWERP, Belgium - It was 20 months ago that the U.S. Men’s National Team got together for an international tour, let alone faced outside competition. Within that timeframe, a new coaching staff was appointed as well as a freshly named 2021-22 USMNT roster. As the team prepares for the men’s 2022 Pan American Cup (PAC), a World Cup qualifier, in January, they will embark on a quick five-day, two-leg Europe tour that will include trainings and test matches.

“Since the start of the pandemic, the U.S. Men’s National Team hasn’t played any competitive matches,” said Harry Singh, USMNT Head Coach. “As a team, we are excited to see how these test series go not only to help us grow, but also build playing tactics that incorporate an attacking style of hockey. As a coach I expect that the team will build a united solid structure to implement this.”

The squad will arrive at the Frankfurt 80 Hockey Club in Frankfurt, Germany on Monday, October 11 for two days of training followed by matches against Germany’s U-21 team on Wednesday, October 13 at 6:00 p.m. local time and Thursday, October 14 at 5:00 p.m. local time.

The team will then travel to Wilrijkse Pleinen in Antwerp, Belgium for matches against Belgium’s U-21 side on Friday, October 15 at 1:30 p.m. local time and Saturday, October 16 at 2:00 p.m. local time.
