USA Field Hockey Announces Two Level 3 Coaching Courses for 2023

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Field Hockey is excited to announce two Level 3 Coaching Courses that will take place in 2023. The first will be held Saturday, July 15 through Monday, July 17 at the Virginia Beach Regional Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va., in conjunction with the Junior and Senior Nexus Championship, presented by Osaka Hockey. The other will take place Thurdsay, November 16 through Saturday, November 18 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, in conjunction with the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship.

 

Any interested coach should fill out the  Level 3 Coaching Course Interest Form.

 

The Level 3 Coaching Course is the highest-level certification that USA Field Hockey currently offers, building on the coach education pathway established in 2016 to elevate professionalism in the sport of field hockey. The Coach Education Pathway is comprised of the following courses: Foundations, Level 1, Level 2, and new Level 3, with a Level 4 certification to be added. USA Field Hockey also offers topic-specific workshops to support coaches of all levels.

 

USA Field Hockey believes, as a core value, that trained and certified coaches deliver a more effective, fun and safe developmental field hockey experience. USA Field Hockey’s Coach Education Pathway incorporates best practices from across sports that focuses on a learner-centered approach to development. This consistency in philosophy and language is what we call “The USA Way”, establishing common terminology utilized from the Discover Phase through high performance.

 

The Level 3 Coaching Course is a 27-hour practical course supported by an online/virtual component. Course activities center around individual growth in the areas of coaching/playing philosophy, principles-based coaching, session design, game analysis, goalkeeping, performance planning and more. 

 

USA Field Hockey’s Level 3 Coaching Course is open to experienced coaches at the club, high school, and college levels, and those aspiring to support development of the junior high performance environment and beyond.

 

Applicants must be current USA Field Hockey Coach Members with appropriate background check and SafeSport training.
