USA Field Hockey Announces Adult, Parent & Fan Membership

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Field Hockey is pleased to announce a new membership category designed to inspire engagement, support and grow participation among adult players, parents and fans of field hockey. The NEW Adult Player/Parent/Fan Membership will be priced at just $30.00 a year, a dramatic reduction from the previous Adult Membership offering. This lower-price membership marks USA Field Hockey’s commitment to and investment in growing lifetime engagement. USA Field Hockey’s goal is to provide every adult player, parent and fan with the opportunity to get involved and stay connected through playing and supporting the great sport of field hockey. 

“I am excited to see the dedication and investment of USA Field Hockey to grow lifetime engagement and increasing offerings specific to adults,” said Kendra Lucking, USA Field Hockey’s Lifetime Engagement Manager. “We are focusing on building a support structure to empower adult leaders to grow the game and to give all adult athletes local and national opportunities to compete at the commitment level they desire."

This new membership category demonstrates USA Field Hockey’s commitment to support and build adult play and fans everywhere. The overall goal is promoting field hockey in the United States to be a family sport so those who played as a youth continue through adulthood. Adults can also discover field hockey as beginners and enjoy the sport and the many roles available. This membership includes many valuable benefits including regular communications through email and the USA Field Hockey Member App - “In the Circle”, playing privileges in Adult Member Clubs, leagues and USA Field Hockey Regional, National and Sanctioned Events, insurance coverage, in addition to exclusive savings and offerings from sponsors and partners.

Building a membership relationship and strong membership base is important for the success and growth of the sport. Membership is the primary vehicle for communicating, building and developing a network with key adult stakeholders, connecting with adult athletes and supporting those who want to invest in growing the game. In 2017, USA Field Hockey sanctioned the United States Field Hockey League (USHFL) so adult men and women have an organized league structure throughout the country where tops teams that qualify locally compete in regional play-offs, culminating in a prestigious National Championship.

The support of our members is critical to our organization’s success. Many don’t realize that USA Field Hockey is almost entirely self-funded.”

“USA Field Hockey is a non-profit membership-based organization that does not receive any government funding and only minimal funding from the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee earmarked for the U.S. Women’s National Team. USA Field Hockey uses revenue generated from membership, sponsors, donors, events and programming to do all we do, including important grow the game initiatives such as sport development, grants and educational programs and Coach and Umpire Education. Membership revenue also helps support our U.S. Men’s and Women’s National and Junior National Teams to Succeed Internationally. Our ambitions for growth are great, and we hope this new membership category will inspire adult players, parents and fans to become members, join the family and help us promote and develop field hockey for future generations to enjoy.”

“Field hockey is a sport for all, a sport for life,” said Sally Goggin, USA Field Hockey’s National Development Director. “As USA Field Hockey continues to expand the new system of regional representation in the form of State Chapters, state leaders will be elected by members 18+ through a voting process. This means that adults who are interested in steering the direction of State Chapters will want to become members to obtain voting privileges to elect outstanding local leaders. More importantly, all adult player, parents and fans members receive playing privileges as well. It’s never too late to pick up and stick and discover field hockey. The goal with the Adult Player/Parent/Fan Membership is to get more adults actively engaged in the sport. and connected to USA Field Hockey through Membership.
