by USA Field Hockey

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The U.S. Men’s Masters Committee has confirmed the tryout date for the 2022 World Masters Hockey (WHM) World Cup in the O-50, O-55, O-60 and O-65 men’s age divisions. The tryout for the O-40 and O-45 men was previously held in 2021 at which time squads were selected. A final trial to reduce these squads to World Cup travel teams is being held at the same time as the afore mentioned tryouts.

The tryout will take place on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. PT and Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. PT at 10139 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale, AZ 85307. For athletes that are interested but unable to make the tryout, there is an alternative method for selection that must be submitted by Monday, March 7, 2022.

Email mastersfieldhockey@gmail.com for more information on the alternative tryout method.

The tryout fee is $50 and is due by Monday, March 7, 2020. There is a $25 late fee on payments made after that date. Payments can be sent through PayPal (choose family and friends option) to mastersfieldhockey@gmail.com or by check payable to “USA Men’s Masters” and mailed to: Neville Gardner, 381 Bierys Bridge Road, Bethlehem, PA 18017.

Deadline to register Monday, March 7, 2022

All athletes must be active members (temporary memberships will not be offered) of USA Field Hockey in order to participate in the tryout.

The U.S. Men’s Masters Committee is committed to sending the best O-40, O-45, O-50, O-55, O-60 and O-65 teams to compete in as many age divisions as possible. The number and level of athletes that attend the tryouts will determine what age divisions are entered into the tournaments. Following the tryouts, squads will be announced and reduced to travel teams that consist of no more than 18 athletes per roster in early summer.

An athlete’s age qualification is calculated as of December 31. For example, if an athlete turns 50 on December 31, 2022 (i.e., born on December 31, 1972), this individual can play for the O-50 team.
