Make the Save Presenter: Sergio Gonzalez

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The inaugural Make the Save Multi-Sport Goalkeeping Coaches Forum, hosted by USA Field Hockey, will be held live on Zoom on Thursday, May 20 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. ET. Hosts Phil Edwards, USA Field Hockey's Senior Manager of Coaching and Performance, and Craig Parnham, USA Field Hockey's Director of Coach Education and Learning, will be joined by coaches and specialists from a range of different sports who will share their perspectives on supporting the development of goalkeepers of all levels.

Today, USA Field Hockey is excited to introduce the sixth and final Make the Save presenter who will be sharing how goalkeepers should be integrated into training, Sergio Gonzalez.

Sergio joined Racing Louisville Football Club as their goalkeeper coach after a stint as Indiana University's women's associate head coach. He boasts more than two decades of coaching experience, including eight years with both women's and men's Big 10 Conference programs. Internationally, he has also coached goalkeepers for the U.S. U-16 and U-17 National Teams.

His coaching also extends to the youth level, where since 2014 he has been the head goalkeeper coach for the U.S. Youth Soccer Region II Girls ODP, working with the 2000 age group. Additionally, Gonzalez served as a goalkeeper coach for the U.S. Soccer Development camps in 2015 and 2016. His experience also includes being a director for former U.S. Women's National Team, Olympic gold medal and World Cup-winning coach Tony DiCicco's Soccer Plus Goalkeeper Camp since 2001. He is also is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) National Goalkeeping Academy and has his NSCAA Premier Diploma.

Sergio will be presenting on Integrating Goalkeepers into your Training Environment. His presentation will look at the role of the modern goalkeeper, specifically Training goalkeepers versus Coaching Goalkeepers. This includes integrating goalkeepers into YOUR training environment. What does your environment look like - Goalkeeper Coach versus No Goalkeeper Coach?
